New Site Launched

altHello and welcome to the brand new MR2 Owners Club website!

It has been almost a year in construction, while Jeff and his many helpers gave up their evenings and weekend hours, hammering on keyboards and clicking away on their mice, creating this new site which you see today.

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." - George Bernard Shaw

But you have seen changes to the MR2OC site before ... what makes this one different?

Well the old site was built using an old style management system. Although it served our needs and was a great hub for the club in the past, it was no longer able to sustain the growth in usability and membership that a club of this size demands. This site really is totally new, and not just a update like you have seen before.  It allows much more security and usability, whilst also allowing for new innovative modules and sections to be added.

But what about my old forum posts, my profile information and account settings?

Don’t panic ... our team of web boffins have done an amazing job, and practically all the useful or important content has been imported across. You can log in with your old username and password, and all your forum posts should be intact. Of course there will be some small things which didn’t get migrated across, and we took the opportunity to go through to forums and take out a lot of the ‘spam’ or clearly useless threads. But all the important stuff and major content that was on the old site, is still with us today!

So what’s new?

Well  as previously mentioned, all of the major components from the old site have been imported across. User accounts, forums posts, and our ‘Know Your 2’ knowledge base are the most noticeable. But as well as all the best bits from the old site, we have many new sections for you to play with. Some of these include:

Live Chat

Detailed Events Section

Improved Social Content – Share videos and gallery pictures much more easily.

Classifieds Section

There have also been major improvements to sections such as the Club Shop, Business Directory, Galleries and Articles.

A huge thanks!

A huge thanks to everyone who put in their time to make this new website and on behalf of the staff, management and moderators of this site, I would like to offer my biggest thanks to you guys ... our members! It’s all our members who make this club much more than just a website, and we hope you all enjoy this new site, and I look forward to a great 2009/10 in the best MR2 Owners Club there is!
