Now I know my lambo is extremely heavy. Nearly 2 tonne it’s never going to be as quick as a normal mr2 but I can only imagine what it’s like in a car weighing just under 1 tonne.

Nearly 2 tonne   Wrong engine for such heavy car.. :laughing

the 2GR looks to be a great conversion for our cars.
What's so great about it vs 3sgte wise? :confused1:

I’m not a great lover of turbo engines myself because every one I’ve ever owned I’ve blown it up. I suffer the same as you probably. Just keep turning up that boost.
Anyways I’ve waffled enough.
If you can afford a 3.5v6 and can afford to have it fitted professionally. Go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
:th:
That's because you don't ever drove proper Turbo 3sgte engine ever!! 3sgte vs 2gr.. 3sgte always wins!!! :th:

Would you care to define what you mean by a 'proper' 3S-GTE?

Utter tosh. In real world driving on the road it will destroy a stock 3S-GTE.
A 2GR-FE has 295bhp out of the box and a much flatter torque curve.
It will be pulling hard well before a 3S-GTE gets into its stride.
I know several people with 2GR converted cars which will easily match T2.
Which, btw, is nowhere near stock.

For someone who has only been on here for less than 2 months you seem to enjoy being controversial.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!

1st a proper 3S-GTE means that is has been build to a factory specification like Toyota do.

I don't know where you get that figure from 295 out of the box?? As far as I know they around 270bhp from Lexus and when is NEW! Yes it will beat a stock 3S-GTE I agree..but 3SGTE has plenty room for power increase and you stuck with 270 out of the box.

Now 2gr-fe is not trouble free engine.. oil leaks, water pumps failures, vvti units and chain stretch, is 'Disposable' no overhaul with re-boring provided. And good luck to work on it in MR2 engine bay

Regarding..on here for less than 2 months. So what??

I'm being controversial as much as yourself!

I have been biting my tongue but at the risk of being controversial the bigger picture is 295Hp....in a 2 ton car ?

It looks fantastic but Its not a Bugatti Veyron in the engine department is it.

With that king of weight and look I would be expecting to see 1UZFE with twin or single turbo setup in that car. :laughing

Your doing a very good impression of a troll and I would suggest you desist if you wish to continue posting. ;)

In other words a totally stock OEM engine. Bhp will depend on which version you're talking about.

Again it depends on what car it came from. Since you mention Lexus, the 4th Gen RX 350 develops the figure I quoted. I accept that other versions of the 2GR will be less than that.

At least we agree on something. It also contradicts what you said earlier (3S-GTE always wins!!!).

I'm well aware that more power can be obtained from the 3S-GTE. All of mine, other than my first, have been/are. However, are you seriously suggesting that a 2GR-FE is incapable of being modified for more power? With a supercharger and appropriate engine management, 340bhp is quite achievable.
It might help if you stopped comparing apples with pears.

How is that relevant? Neither is a 20 year old (or more) 3S-GTE.

OK, for those who do their own maintenance, some tasks are even more of a faff than a 3S-GTE.
Big deal. That's totally irrelevant to driving which is what kicked off this debate.

I beg to differ. I refer the honourable member to the posts by the OC team. It's not me they have taken to task...

Putting my cards on the table: if I were starting again from scratch, I would go down the 2GR route. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. I'm not interested in chasing bhp numbers for bragging rights. My goal is completely different.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!

Jeezz..that's wrong and that's the problem on the forums! Regarding: just not on other people's threads ;)

Let me get it straight..If anyone who post a tread on public forum it will be always open to criticism especially if is a daft one..or different opinion or disagreement..unless he or she kept it to oneself.

Now to be honest with you..I'll be perfectly happy in my own threads as always... open to criticism or civilised debate, you never know if you wrong or right!. No problem at all :D

p.s I've been in Jap cars since early 2000's Soarer's,Honda's,Mitsubishi's..Mazda..every time I've meet some fan then at some point they would ask..are you on forum?? I say ney..they ask why?? And I say is full of Eejit's and I'll be banned anyway..for telling the truth!! And that's the fact!
And here is fine example.. I've been suppressed from expressing my view or valid point!

The Arrogant Frog has respond to my replay and he's mixed up his wires as usual! I would like to respond and to correct some misunderstandings, but I'm already been threaten with the ban.. :notworthy:
