The 2012 BHP Show: Important information and updates
BHP Show, Lydden Hill Race Circuit, Wootton, Canterbury, Kent, CT4 6RX.
I have arranged a Club stand for MR2oc & Kent car club members at the BHP Show on 7 May 2012, Bank Holiday Monday. The stand is sponsored by KCC http://www.kentcarclub.co.uk and as in previous years there will be "no" charge to MR2oc members who have cars on the stand.
This is an absolute must, as it is now one of the biggest shows in the south-east of England. I was talking to Jay the organiser about this a couple months ago and he is determined as usual to take the Show to a new level this year. He is looking for a higher standard of entry and to keep the show as a family occasion.
I have made this a multi-club event and have one of the biggest stands at the show with lots to do. This annual event has become popular with club members and we intend to make it something special for them.
All MR2 Owners club members & Kent Car Club will have the use of the Club Marquee and its facilities including complimentary refreshments throughout the day
Arrival time
- Arrival time for members and guests with cars on the club stand is between 6.30am and 7.45am. Food and refreshments will be available for breakfast and throughout the day inside the Club Marquee.
Arrival
- If there is only the driver in the stand car (with a pass), the organisers will wave you through. If you have passengers, they will ask for entrance fees for the passengers. Follow the road all the way down to paddocks the turn left and look out for the Kent Car Club banner. One of us will be waiting to show you to your parking spot. You should give yourself a good hour to put the finishing show and shine touches to your car. (Water is available)
- Please, please, please do not leave your car on the stand until a Marshall has confirmed that you are correctly parked.
- I always remember the first time I went to a show and was told that my car would be on the stand. I felt a degree of panic set in as I imagined the stand being something like the motor show in Earls Court with gleaming white spotlights. My mind was quickly put to rest when I was told that the stand would be a large area of flat ground and all the club cars could park together.
The cars on the stand will obviously have to arrive before (6.30am to 7.45am) the gates open to the public. You do need to arrive early and not at the exact opening time for any Stand cars to gain entry. Otherwise you will join a queue with the other hundreds of cars that have left it to the last minute.
Marquee for: Members (MR2oc & KCC) and Club VIP guests
- Four Seasons Marquee Company are going to supply and put up a large (6m x9m) marquee the day before. As this is purposely made it will withstand any weather and we will not have to start so early in the morning..
- The general idea of it is to give you somewhere to: casually socialise, sit down to get something to eat and drink and a bit of shelter if needed.
We will have an electricity supply that will be used for hot drinks.
There will be a limited amount of seating, so if you want to guarantee a seat please bring one with you.
.
- The Marquee facilities are open to all members and their families. This year we will have a corner of the Marquee set aside with a TV screen. Films will be played throughout the day focusing on motorsports. However we will not forget our youngest guests and we will have special times set aside for their viewing.
- This year we are doing different voting slips that will be given to every member on arrival.
Each car on the stand will have a unique number.
You choose for whatever reasons which are the best 4 cars on the stand.
The four cars with the most votes will be “equal” winners, each receive a special Kent Car Club BHP trophy on the day.
- This gives everyone the chance to be a winner; it's up to the members to decide on the day.
- All of “The Rebels” will be attending this year, “Yes” Jodie, Kate and Bianca will be at the show.
- We are pleased to announce there will be an amateur and professional photography competition on the stand. One of the conditions this year is that each photographer must submit the minimum of three photographs capturing cars on the club stand. (Capturing meaning the whole view of a car). So get your car washed and polished as it could end up being famous.
Track-Time
- If you want to take the day to a different level, why not try your car around the track a few times, it is up to you. You will get lots of support from other club members who will be on the stand and hopefully some good photographs to remember the day.
We cannot stress enough that if you want Track-Time you will have to book it well in advance of the May 2012 BHP performance show. Last year the BHP show sold out of Track-Time very quickly and there were lots of disappointed people.
- Just 2 simple steps
1) PM, your username, full name, address with postcode.
2) Sign up here giving these details, MR2 model, colour, number of people attending.
Anybody entering “maybe, possible, depending” regarding attendance will be put on the reserve list.
