2013 BHP Show is the best event in Kent, you have been invited

Over the last 3 years I have organised a stand at the BHP Show for Kent car club and members from MR2OC, I am pleased to announce that I will be arranging a stand at the 2013 BHP Show.

The stand will be for the maximum of 50 cars; this is because the event organisers have limited the size of the stands.

Kent Car Club subsidises each car and driver on the stand to about £25 . Kent car club covers the cost of : entrance fee for the stand car and driver (£10), a large purposely built Marquee, free refreshments and food to members and its guests “all-day”, photography competition and prizes, promotion girls, Show & Shine competition with prizes and postage of tickets and passes.

This year we are asking cars on the stand to make a voluntary donation, say of £5 - £7 to cancer support. This way we get a very enjoyable day courtesy of Kent car club and we also help someone in need.

So what do you have to do, it could not be simpler:

• 1) Just add your name to the list below. (Username, colour of car, number people attending)
  
  2) Make a voluntary donation to the cancer support link that I will post at a later date, before attending the show.
  
  3) PM me your full name and address including post code (to receive your ticket and pass)
  
  4) bring your camera on the day

Each year the MR2oc Club has picked up new MR2 members and it has become a good social event. Please remember it is only Kent car club and MR2oc stand cars that are provided with complimentary tickets that have been authorised by me, so please come along.

  • The Club will have a stand at the BHP Show on 6th May 2013 Bank Holiday Monday.
    
    This is an absolute must for Kent Car Club Members and their guests.
    
    Kent Car Club is going to have one of the biggest stands at the show with lots to do. This annual event has become one of the most popular with club members. All Kent Car Club members will have the use of the Club Marquee and its facilities.
  Arrival time
  
  • Arrival time for members and guests with “cars on the club stand” is between 6.30am and 7.40am. Food and refreshments will be available for breakfast and throughout the day inside the Club Marquee.
  Arrival
  
  • If there is only the driver in the Stand Car (with a pass), the organisers will wave you through.
    If you have passengers, they will be asked to pay an entrance fees (club tickets only cover the driver and the car).
    You should give yourself a good hour to put the finishing Show & Shine touches to your car. (Water is available)
    Please, please, please do not leave your car on the stand until a Marshall has confirmed that you are correctly parked.
  The Stand
  
  • I always remember the first time I went to a show and was told that my car would be on the stand. I felt a degree of panic set in as I imagined the stand being something like the Motor Show in London with gleaming white spotlights. My mind was quickly put to rest when I was told that the stand would be a large area of flat ground and all the club cars could park together.
    
    The cars on the stand will obviously have to arrive before ( 7.30am) the gates open to the public. You do need to arrive early; otherwise you will join a queue with the other hundred who left it to the last minute.
  Marquee for: Members and Club VIP guests
  
  • The Marquee Company is going to supply and put up a large (5m x6m) Marquee the day before. As this is purposely made it will withstand any weather and we will not have to start so early in the morning. All Kent Car Club members will have the use of the Club Marquee and its facilities.
    What happens inside the Club Marquee
    
    The general idea of it is to give you somewhere to: casually socialise, sit down to get something to eat and drink and a bit of shelter if needed.
    We will have an electricity supply that will be used for hot drinks.
    
    There will be a limited amount of seating, so if you want to guarantee a seat please bring one with you.
    
    Items from the Club shop and access to the club website will also be available.
    TV
    
    The Marquee facilities are open to all members and their families. This year we will have a corner of the Marquee set aside with a TV screen. Films will be played throughout the day focusing on motorsports. However we will not forget our youngest guests and we will have special times set aside for their viewing, after all Kent Car Club is also a family club.
  Competition for the best 4 cars on the stand.
  
  • This year we are doing different voting slips that will be given to every member on arrival.
    
    Each car on the stand will have a unique number.
    
    You choose for whatever reasons which are the best 4 cars on the stand.
    
    The four cars with the most votes will be equal winners, each receive a special Kent Car Club BHP trophy on the day.
    This gives everyone the chance to be a winner; it's up to the members to decide on the day.
  
  Track-Time
  
  • If you want to take the day to a different level, why not try your car around the track a few times, it is up to you. You will get lots of support from other club members who will be on the stand and hopefully some good photographs to remember the day.
    We cannot stress enough that if you want Track-Time you will have to book it well in advance of the May 2012 BHP performance show. Last year the BHP show sold out of Track-Time very quickly and there were lots of disappointed people.

  Behaviour
  
  Please do not drive through the village to gain access to the event, use the main entrance leading from the A2 Dover Road.
  
  Please do not use the layby just after the Kent Motorcycle layby on the A2 to meet and travel in convoy to the event. This can cause heavy congestion at the traffic lights and is dangerous with large groups of cars crossing the dual carriageway.
  
  Kent Car Club is working together in partnership with organisers of events and agree on their policy that antisocial behaviour and dangerous driving will not be tolerated. Antisocial behaviour and dangerous driving not only reflects on the car clubs attending but also the organisers’ reputation. It is unfair that a few individuals who obviously cannot drive and act like children ruin it for others. Therefore if you see any antisocial behaviour or dangerous driving at the event or outside the event on the access roads, video it on your mobile phone and forward it to the Police.
