Another mass MR2 meet?

Post by MyBlueMR2 »

Will there ever be another form of mass MR2 meet/track event? I never had the chance to go to the last one.

Split this topic from Its official we are GWR holders - no point bumping a 4 year old thread just to ask an almost entirely unrelated question!

It depends what you call a mass meet? JAE and some of the other shows would be a good start. The price of fuel is a bit prohibitive to a number of people travelling a long way now-a-days, but something like the big Coventry meet of many years ago could be do-able with enough interest.

That was a good meet :clapping:

Laserquest and bowling was superb with the banter and car stuff and food :th:

When's the next one?

:th: I wonder how many of those who were there are still active in the OC?

That registration number looks familiar. :D

Whenever you get round to organising it? :bleh:

I think it would have to be in the Midlands again to stand any chance of being another 'Big Meet' tbh. Whether there would be anything like the level of support for the previous one is another matter (I would be up for it).

You have only to look at the pics & vids thread to see how much less activity there is now compared with the pre-recession days. The ownership demographic has changed a lot since then as well. With a few honourable exceptions there appears to be little 'new blood' with the same level of interest in the marque.

This year sees the MR2 celebrate it's 30 year anniversary... not sure whether anything is being done or organised to celebrate this, but it might be a good enough reason for a big meet

I would certainly be game although I can't commit to helping arrange anything....

Already done 2 shows and with a new business venture, my time is really at a premium...

Put my name down as an attendee though :th:

I read on 'MR2 Only' magazine of a drive through the centre of London on a weekend, taking in all the sights.

Could be done on a Sunday and end up just outside the capital for food etc. but it does alienate the members that are up north. Just a suggestion.

I've got an entire airfield we could have for a weekend. Perhaps mass MR2 meet?

Now that's an Idea Gaz but what are the camping/toilet facilities like or are you just thinking of a day event ?

We`d have to work it inbetween the other shows but I`m sure Smitty and I would be up for it :th: but do me a favour and sort your speedo out first if your thinking of a drive out

That'd be great for all of us, could even make an unofficial drag strip and put action behind the willy waving; given the space is there :th:

I'd definitely be up for that, just don't do it in the next 3-4weeks. I still need time to get the MR2 back on the road :laughing
