Chris has come up with a Lorry park place on the A46 that looks promising, Andy has the details Craig if you fancy scoping it?

I'll get a post up for the East Mids side probably tomorrow, scoping some grub in the process but I think we'll have a final meeting point scoped and ready by the end of the weekend :th:

That looks like it will work from the Streetview images. Shouldn't be too busy on a Sunday either.

We have been here before, Burford garden centre, it has a big free car park and there is a cafe/restaurant too.

Could be a goer. If we get a full house on the day we are going to need the whole of the area at the top in this shot.

This is a large car park and Burford is a nice town to drive through, there's another free car park off Church lane Burford ..seen at the bottom of the high street on Google maps.

I forgot about the large car park near the Air Balloon.

One downside, it's known as a local dogging area! Whether it'll be busy in Feb, I'm not sure. However it's on our list to check out on Sunday so we can gauge how likely it is to be busy then.

The up sides are the view is typical Cotswold, it's a dead end so we could look to take over the bottom end of the car park without causing access issues to a local businesses ect.

So notorious it got it's own (fake) tourist sign before some outraged locals tore it down.

Busy, as in too many other cars or the amount of dogging occurring? ;)

What businesses? It's just a car park AFAIK. It used to be the old Birdlip to Leckhampton road before it was diverted to join the current A417. The A417 follows the course of the old Roman Ermin Way from Cirencester to Gloucester. It used to run via Birdlip before it was diverted via the Air Balloon and down Crickley Hill.

We may need to park on both sides if we want to take over the far end, and that can only work if nobody else gets there first with their c**p Euroboxes/SUVs. A possible downside is there is no shelter whatsoever if the weather becomes changeable.

Busy as in other cars but it don't anticipate it being a problem this time of year. We'll find out how busy it is likely to be on Sunday.

As for businesses, it was a comparison to other locations that have been suggested like Burford garden centre where we could be considered as a being a nuisance by taking up the car park over their customers.

God I didn't think of Shab Hill car park either, it's never busy this time of year. It only gets busy in the summer with walkers.

Yes it's a well known dogging area but only at night......so I'm told !

It will be big enough to fit 50 plus cars in and is quite easy to get out of with good roads in either direction.
