Japday Castle Combe 14th May 2016 - CLOSED - Stand Booked

Post by Tinker2 »

Looks like Japfest has been replaced with Japday at Castle Combe on the usual day in May. I know myself and a few others would like to go to this so thought I would put a post up about it.

http://www.japday.co.uk/

We now have a live link to purchase club tickets for this event. Payment is through Paypal through the link below. Cost is £21.50 per CAR which includes entry for the driver & passenger (Actually up to 3 but not really relavant for the MR2) and postage is a further £1 on top to cover the stamp and the envelope to get it sent out.

Closing date to purchase tickets is Friday 25th March to allow me to collate the money and group book before the deadline of the 31st :th:

In order to get your car on to the stand with the club it is essential you purchase your tickets through this channel NOT through the Japday Website - there has been a lot of confusion over this but a club booking MUST be made together to ensure that the correct tickets and stand passes are allocated

PAYMENT LINK NOW CLOSED

Booking track time can be booked separately through the Japday site :th:

Anyone else interested in going ? Would be good to see if we have enough interest to organise a stand.

Edit: Now being organised, add your name to the list below.

Yes please. I'd be up for a couple of sessions on track too.

However going on to the site it seems I can book a ticket for admission and even though they are advertising track time I can't see no link for it?

Also is it per car as per japfest at combe or per person?

Thanks

I'm up for this. :th:

I would much rather go to Combe than Silverstone.
Plus in Japfest in April is too soon for me.
I'll have only just returned from the Highland Drive.
My wallet needs time to recover...

Mark, you're looking in the wrong link. :)
Needs to be booked through the Japday Car Clubs page.
Up to 3 passengers are included in the entry fee.
http://www.japday.co.uk/car-clubs/

A minimum of 5 cars needed for a club stand.
Maybe a joint effort with IMOC as in previous years?

Unfortunately it looks like we are back to the old system.
Everything through one individual who has to do all the leg work.
People will have to commit and pay him/her via Paypal.
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!

It's not about that... I did Japfest 2 last year, was a right pain in the "censored", with tickets being delivered a mere week before the show weekend.

I tagged MR2JAY in the announcement of this new show.
He said we will sort a stand soon

Thanks Tony. Will wait to see if someone organises this then can get booked.

I would organise myself but I have very little time to visit post offices etc.

Can't comment on Japfest 2: I have never been.

It's a PITA for whoever steps up as the club contact. Japfest at Combe has a track record of sending out tickets late in the day and that puts pressure on that person to get them all posted out to members in time. It also doesn't help when they make the stand passes just that bit too big to fit in A5 envelope...

I enjoyed Japfest 2 last year, though the track action was quite disappointing because the grandstands were all closed, which meant you couldn't see much as a spectator. The drift demo area was good though.

I sent everything out in A4 envelopes, didn't cost too much more because our work post is cheaper. But yeah, the pass being a couple centimetres longer than an A5 envelope was annoying!

Would it not be easier just to meet everyone at a designated point and hand them the tickets in person rather than post? That keeps everyone together.

Yes, but if the person who has all the tickets is delayed for whatever reason, then no one can get into the show. Also, if someone is delayed, then whoever organises it has to wait by the gate for them to show up to hand them the ticket. So it solves one set of problems but creates some others.

The best method is the new Japfest method, where there is a club login, and it's up to each member to go onto the Japfest booking system and buy their ticket.

Glad there's lots of interest, will be good to see how the show compares to Japfest.

I agree the way they do tickets is a pain, I also had to deal with the late ticket issues when I organised Japfest in 2011. I'm able to help & spread the load with organising if needed as I love Combe :th:

According to the link it's direct with the circuit for this event.

Also this interesting bit...
