Does anybody know which is the best timing belt Dayco or Gates?

I have a 1991 rev 1 non turbo.

Be grateful for any info.

The best one is the factory Toyota belt that is made in Japan. They are so cheap I wouldn't even bother looking at anything else. The last one cost me like NZD$40, its cheaper than all the other bits you may end up having to buy to complete the job.

If you cannot get a genuine one then go Gates, I have used their belts extensively in model car racing and they lasted twice as long as some other brands like OptiBelt.

V6 ones hard to get sometimes and needed one went with gates which met with approval of mechanic (long history of toyota and mr2s in particular)

All the trade guys I know round here use Gates belts. Both my vw's have them on.

Check with Toyota, but IIRC the early 3SGE belts are discontinued, so Gates may be your only option.

Hi thanks for all the replies.

I have reserved a timing belt from Euro Car Parts but I'm thinking I might get a Gates one now. Does anybody know which is the best place to order one online as I don't trust Ebay.
