Dilemma with my Tubby

Post by danthevanman »

Good evening everyone,

I hope I have placed this in the correct section.

I have a bit of a dilemma with my Tubby.
Long story short I had an accident at work 4 year & 8 months ago, since then I have been retired due to ill health. Lots of neurological problems mainly affecting right arm (funny bone sensation) & hand and left leg (sciatica type pain).

I cannot current drive due to the pain in my leg especially, clutching is a nightmare evening just moving vehicles around the house. So I believe it could be time to get an automatic car.

I was in the middle of doing a few modifications to the interior before I had my accident and these need completing and reinstalling some dash panels.
I’ve got lots of parts ready to be installed on the car but I can’t manage to do them due to fatigue and pain.

I really hate seeing the car just sitting there, not being used and I don’t know if or when I’ll be able to make any progress with it, never mind drive it.

So I’m wondering if anyone could help me figure what it’s worth if I was to sell up?
Below is a list of what I’ve had done to the car (no doubt I’ve missed stuff off, I won’t be able to make a complete list until I manage to get all the parts out of their various hiding places).

S reg but I have a dateless registration MRZ 1002 on retention
Car has AC, ABS. remapped to 310bhp on hub dyno

I am the 3rd owner.
1st in Japan, 2nd imported it into Ireland and then I imported to the UK from R of Ireland.

As soon as I bought the car it was fully undersealed, professionally done and cured in an oven. http://www.chassisclean.co.uk/

Moved from "Anything Goes" strictly speaking your post breaks the rules ..... however we're a club and as such we try and look out for each other.
Hopefully some guidance/assistance from other members will be forthcoming.
Sorry to hear of your health problems, hopefully things will improve, if not adapt and overcome, autos aren't that bad ... ask Jeff, as a long term Beams auto owner I'm sure he much auto experience/advice he can share.
Black is not a colour ! .... Its the absence of colour

Hi Jimi,
Thank you for allowing this thread and moving it to a more suitable area in the forum.

Yeah I've been having to do a lot of adapting over this last years and finally realising that I'm going to need a now lowered practical automatic car.
Even having to ask people to do stuff round the house for me has been a real hurdle to get over.

That'll be a good chunk of money in order to get it done properly.
And then I'm not sure if I could manage to get in & out of the car every day.

I know this does not address your issue directly, but modern auto's are great, something like a 3 series BMW with one might meet your needs? Still fun to drive

Admin please close this thread.

I've secured a shipping container locally and I'll be putting the car and parts in.
Then getting it stacked out of the way for a year or two.

Thanks for everyone's advice.

I'll be back in a few years probably looking advice and or help with trying to rebuild it as an auto.
