Steering wheel refurbishment

Post by scann2 »

As I mentioned on my recent seats refurbishment post, yesterday I removed my steering wheel airbag and sent the steering wheel away to be re formed and recovered. In this picture, you before in the left and how it will look in 4 weeks time. Note, the company I am using near Dresden in Germany, do not change the metal form or shape if the steering wheel, they strip everything back to the metal then make the new shape using a resin moulded around the original metal, that way the safety factor isn't affected regards to the airbag also. The new Alcantara and leather is then glued over the top. When it's back I'll post a picture.

The cost was 288,75€. On their page you see daily examples of their work, they all look amazing. I took the 25% discount option if I gave them 4 weeks to do it, fine by me, not in a hurry.
