Help Please
Hi All
I am in the process of putting my car back on the road and have a couple of questions please. The car is a 1990 MR2 GT T-Bar I bought new and it needs a new fuel lifter which I presume is the fuel pump (the garage fixing it is old school). I have been searching for days for the part number which I believe is 23220-43070 but would anyone confirm this is correct.
Also, I have a Japspeed exhaust (MR2 Turbo look alike) which when I bought it it was road legal but checked the website and now it is for offroad use due to emissions. As my car is a 1990 would anyone know if this applies as I believe it was pre cat?
Appreciate any help from you guru's!
Many thanks
James

Re: Help Please
Must be very old school, I'm no spring chicken and I've never heard of a fuel pump being referred to as a fuel lifter, no matter
According to the EPC your looking for 23220-43070, PUMP ASSY, FUEL http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/198 ... pnn=23220P
To be sure of the correct part number follow the link and enter your cars VIN number then search for the fuel pump.
That's the way Mr T does it to ensure the correct part for the car. If you have problems PM me your VIN and I will check it on the EPC

Re: Help Please
Hi
On old cars with carburetors, we used to call the mechanical fuel pump the lift pump because the carbs were higher than the fuel tank.
God I feel old .

Re: Help Please
I don't just feel old, I am old and grew up with carbs, still never heard them called lift pumps. The only things I had where the fuel tank is higher than the carb were bikes & scooters and lawnmowers

Re: Help Please
Firstly thanks for the welcome jimi although I did originally join in 2005
So I purchased a replacement fuel pump and excitedly went to the garage to find my car in bits (well the fuel tank out) and it needs more than a fuel pump..........I guess it is 32 years old! I am now on the hunt for many parts related and maybe even a fuel tank!! I have spent several nights looking for parts that may now be discontinued so again, any help much appreciated. Would anyone know if the Gage Assy, Fuel Sender is availabe anywhere as it is showing as discontinued :(
Thanks all!

Re: Help Please
It appears to be N/A from all the usual suppliers, second hand may be your only option. Is your car a turbo (3S-GTE)?

Re: Help Please
Yeah - I had a feeling that may be the only option - I did see that one on the bay of E but my car is a non turbo. I did contact a Toyota parts dealer in Canada who had the part and a price so keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for looking!

Re: Help Please
Morning Jimi
Thanks for that info - I might just grab one as a backup as it looks alot cleaner than mine! Will pop into Toyota today with my list and see what parts are still available!
Thanks again!
