Hi, not sure if anyone is still interested in this fix, just to let you know that I managed to cut just the leaking section above the fuel tank and replaced with a section of heater hose.
Access was via the engine bay and no need to drop the tank or raise the car.
I'll post some pictures if somebody can tell me how to do this.
I used a rotary cutting disc to cut out the bracket section.
The pipe itself is copper and was quite easy to cut. Being copper I figured it should last a long time rather than doing the complete bypass under the car.

Good solution (in your case) not necessarily for everyone, bear in mind that it's where the brackets join the pipes that normally start leaking and some people have had multiple leaks under the car, hence replacing the complete lines + if you replace the complete lines then there are no joins in awkward places to leak and dump your coolant.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread, but wondered if anyone had a link to the best place to buy the connectors for the flex hose when replacing the copper heater pipes?
