I’m thinking of getting my ct20b refurbished with the addition of a 71mm inducer. I have the st205 version so it has a steel shaft already.

So it’s been decided the ct20b is going to be rebuilt and hybridised, at this stage there is no need to make the AW11 Mk1.5 any more powerful than it already is until I move to a 2.2-2.3 stroker kit so with this in mind there is no need to get a bigger turbo yet.
The turbo is being sent of to midland turbo to get stripped down rebuilt with the addition of a billet 71mm compressor. This hopefully should allow me to make 300-315 with out having to run 19psi.
For no other reason than I can here are the before pictures.

So my new turbo arrived as mentioned above it is a hybrid ct20b with a new steel shaft and 71mm compressor. I cant wait to see how it goes.

Re: Anyone uses a 5.0 mustang throttle body p7
I am looking at increasing the size of my throttle body and using the 75mm 1986-1993 5.0 Mustang on my rev3 tubby intake manifold. I was wondering if anyone had done this as I have a few questions about fitting.
I plan to use the racer X conversion kit to mount and use the OEM TPS, cable and IVCS, but it’s attaching the TB to the manifold, I could just weld it as a last resort but I was wondering if anyone had just drilled and tapped one into the manifold?

Well 4.5 years later and this project is still not complete, I never imagined it would take this long. I think my first plan was to get it done in 16 weekends, I think I was a little optimistic and adulting got in the way.
However the project still lives on and I have given myself until the 5th November 2021 to have it completed or it will need to be broken and sold.
So a little summary of what has been happening since my last update:
- the rear Harper’s hatch has been sanded and mounted
- I removed the Hurley engineering cam timing set up and moved over to a racer x cam and crank kit
- removed the Ford coil pack and replaced it with individual 1zz coils
- completed my wiring and decided on the standard ECU and could not stop it over fueling so stripped it all out and started all over again with a Emerald K6 ecu
- stripped out all my emerald K6 wiring and decided I did not want the main harness/rear lights wiring running through the car so stripped it out and am finishing
- removed all of my gauges and decided on using a race technology race dash 2 and ditching the OEM gauges.
The next few tasks are:
- Remove st205 chargecooler set up and build a custom one which with includes a rad at the front of the car and one in the Harper’s hatch scoop
- finish rewiring again
- put an interior in the car
- sand, sand and some more sanding ready for paint
- drive to a meet
I can’t wait to get out and start joining in the mr2 meets again if they still even happen I’ve noticed the forum doesn’t get as busy as it used too.

The project keeps on ticking on in the background so the car ecu and wiring is how I want it and with Emeralds remote access the car now runs lovely upto 3500 RPM. The actual mapping date is now set as the 21st July while it might not be MOT’d by then it will at least be ready to used.
Other recent developments have included :
- Getting two wheels straightened and organising the tracking to be sorted once I know the suspension does not need to come off again.
- fitting a different charge cooler set up, I was just not happy with the st205 charge cooler and it made accessing the coils and plugs a pain in the "censored" so I have moved to a ebay special.
- finalised the fitment of the Harper’s hatch and made the mounts to hold it on place.
- I’ve ditched the standard suspension and move over to a set of BC coilovers, I have adjusted the spring rate on the rear to try and account for the extra weight of the 3sGTE
The biggest development is that I have decided to move to a race technology Dash 2. I did try and get a dash 3D printed but the company I used could not get the detail and accuracy that I wanted, plus the material was very brittle so it made adapting it to make it fit just broke things of until it snapped.
So I decided to go a different route and dismantle the original dash to make this:
Alongside this I need to add a oil pressure and temperature sensor as well as a wheel speed sensor. Which brings to a question has anyone placed a cherry hall sensor onto a mk1?
Hopefully this year I will get out to meet you all this year even if my car will be many many different colours.

Race dash all wired up
Well today was a successful few hours at the workshop and I have wired in the race dash. For anyone considering getting one and worrying about the wiring I wouldn’t, it took a few hours with a multi meter probing the instrument cluster and soldering and it was all done.
Once it was in I added the oil pressure and temperature sensors, for those with a rev3 tubby I just used one of the galleries near the oil filter for the temp sensor and the standard oil pressure location on the head. I used the race technology sensors are they are already calibrated on the dash 2.
The final bit of today was spend looking at locations to fit a wheel speed sensor; it seems the only place I can for it with my fabrication skills is off the rear drivers side suspension bolt using the 6 drive shaft bolts I just hope there isn’t to much movement in the carrier bearing.
The car is booked into the local garage on the 1st May to have it tracking sorted as all the wheels are pointing in different directions. Once it is done I will have it MOT’d and that will be the first time the car has been outside the workshop in 5 possibly 6+ years.
Things are finally moving in a positive direction.

I love these modern units built into original style dash clocks, mixture of old and new looks brilliant.

Love it!
My dad was a Car Salesman, later manager up until he retired. He worked for VW/Audi, BMW, Ford, VW then back to Audi. I'll always remember as a child in the 80's him bringing home the UR Quattro demonstrator and it TALKED!!!! As a youth I recall feeling this was as close as I would get to being in Kitt!

Re: Five years later the car is outside!
So after driving the car into the workshop 5 years 10 months ago the car has made it outside from the workshop under its own it’s power. While the car is no where near complete, but all the major mechanicals and electrical a as are complete, it just needs the interior, fitting and painting.
The car is now booked in for its 4 wheel alignment next Saturday and it’s mapping on the 20th July. So between now and then I plan to do a few little wiring bits, a switch for charge-cooler and wire in a speed sensor to the dash 2. Once that is done I will start fitting the interior and prepping the car for a quick coat of paint so it is all the same colour for this summer so hopefully I will see you all. Then this winter the car will come apart and be prepped for full respray, so it can look pretty
