Re: Highland Drive 2013 - the aftermath!!
Thanks to our Viking Leaders for the weekend Peter + Ann & Bob for yet another amazing Highland Drive, can't believe it’s over already!
We literally had most of the roads up there to ourselves for the majority of the weekend, add an MR2 and great scenery and you can't ask for much more!. Everyone at the Morefield made everyone feel more than welcome with the food, drink, games and banter making the evenings fly by.
I haven't met anyone that’s been on a Highland Drive that wouldn’t recommend it so if you haven't ticked this box yet and have an MR2 you know what to do - as an indication I have an n/a mk2 and leaving from West Lothian (between Edinburgh & Glasgow) we did 1,048 miles which worked out about £230 on petrol for the drive, petrol was £1.50.9 per litre in ullapool but you never think about that when you’re driving the roads up there - struggling to come down from the High of driving the roads up there to the daily commute back here. lol
Cheers

So how did everyone's car hold up on the trip? I need a windscreen,it got cracked 5 mins from Durness aswell. Need my bumper painted and probably an oil change, and definitely some wheel spacers.

Re: Highland Drive 2013 - the aftermath!!
Another brilliant 4-5day driving weekend. It was great to see everyone again and to welcome PeteV6R and GlenN on their first Highland Drive. As per usual the banter was flowing, Tony and Bev at the Morefield did us proud and the weather all in all was kind to us.
Thanks to toymr2 for leading the field. I hope you bonded with your little Mk3 which went very well over the weekend.
The winner of this years pool competition was Ian (clemr2), runner up was last years winner PeteT.
Tony le frog again won the fancy dress with toymr2(peter) 2nd
The remote control car driving competition was won by PeteT, second Ian(Clemr2)
Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun. You're all really good sports
The Highland Drive 2014 thread will be posted shortly, the dates for your diary are 17th - 21st April

Petrol in Ullapool 150.9 per litre
Today at Morrisons Glenrothes 131.9 per litre
Now can they justify the price up there
It could be worse last year my rev3 turbo did 17mpg
this year my mk3 did 34mpg

Pete Bob Ann 1st off all a great way to spend a week end.
Thanks for organizing and special thanks to Pete for leading.
To everyone who attended it was brilliant to be welcomed in (yes I knew a few from past events such as Japfest / JAE etc), but after the 1st afternoon it was like one big happy family.
Numbers 1720 miles 273 ltrs or fuel (Stratford -upon-Avon - and a little trip to see a mate who moved back to Dunoon - extra 80 miles) = 28.6 MPG for the whole trip.
Economy run up gave 34mpg - fast run back from Glasgow gave 29mpg the days out averaged 27.5 mpg. (my flabber has never been so gasted with those numbers).
Roll on 2015 (dont think I can make 2014)
If you havnt done the HD - it is a must thing to do before you sell your 2 and move on. I have been saying for 4 years I must do that - I have missed out on more HD's because I just didnt put my name down.
Dont think do.
