Re: VC Highland drive video highlights + Pics now added
Thankfully I've never used Rustbucket. My archive is also not dependent on a hosting site.
All my pics for the last 8 years remain on the high capacity SD card which was in the camera at the time they were taken. I don't reformat/reuse them. When one fills up I just plug in a new one.
I also have a searchable database which lists every .jpeg file with additional relevant details. Makes it very easy to find the specific pic I want to access and which SD card it's on.
So, should my hosting site starts playing silly b*****s, I can simply plug them back into my camera and upload them elsewhere. A bit time consuming if I needed to do a complete refresh but I would simply set it to run overnight while I get some kip. Rinse and repeat as required.

Re: VC Highland drive video highlights + Pics now added
Sadly this photo*uckit debacle makes the many hours I spent going through all the KY2 articles downloading the pics to my PC then uploading them to our servers worthwhile
It's also one of the reasons we set up the OC Photo Galleries many years ago so that event pics/ members pics could be stored on our server, unfortunately you can lead a horse to water ..........................................................
I have a somewhat similar setup to Tony, all my pictures are on a NAS drive with twin mirrored disc drives and my online copies are either hosted my own webspace or on Google Drive/Dropbox

Re: VC Highland drive video highlights + Pics now added
I have all my photos backed up on various hard drives, clouds etc etc.
I have not lost any photos.
That’s not the point.
The point is, myself and others must have posted hundreds and hundreds of pictures - memories of club events here and they’ve now been blocked. Those memories have been lost.
I used to pay £90 ish a year for photobucket hosting. The DD must have stopped paying in, I never checked.
I still lurk around here occasionally, often to browse all those event pictures.
Gonna have to revert my attentions back to the Decoy Blowjob Goblins now I guess.
*sighs*

Your absolutely right Tony and it would be next to impossible to go through all those threads and re-link the pictures to a different host, it's such a shame.vanilla.coffee wrote: ↑01/07/17 22:54 I have all my photos backed up on various hard drives, clouds etc etc.

My wife pays around $40 P.A. to photobucket but has still had her links blocked, she would have switch to the top level account $399 P.A. to get them back can't see that happening

Nope. Me neither Jimi. No way I’m going to try and trawl through all that to try and re upload.
Off to delete and close my photobucket account now I think. Pointless keeping it going.
Hope you’re well Jimi - take care

It's far from ideal but there is a workaround. Simply remove the image tags from the relevant post. Readers will have to click on each link to see the pic/s though. Viz:

Another alternative is to replace them with a single link to the whole album. However, readers will still need to click on each thumbnail for the full image as the < and > scrolling doesn't work.
The slideshow option still does.
Once you close your Rustbucket account any links on old posts will be gone forever.
I can see a domino effect looming as tens of thousands of users migrate elsewhere.

i know its an extra step, but if you want to display pictures of events etc, if you upload to the oc gallery and its real simple, just drag and drop as many as you like, then as long as the club is still around your linked pictures will show in the forums http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/gallery.html

Weird. When I click on each link, I can see the pic: no problem.
