Here's a couple more for you.

A very well known venue back in the day. Only OFC members are likely to have any experience of it as it closed to competitive events in 1970.

The Cobra Drivers Club will be there next Sunday.

•Breakfast at Deanston Distillery in Doune*
•Drivers briefing
•65 mile scenic tour (including Dukes Pass)
•Exclusive/privileged access and 2 runs up The Rest & Be Thankful speed hill climb course
•3 course lunch at Inveraray Castle

This event is open to all owners of original, continuation and recreation Cobra 260, 289, 427 and Daytona Coupe, Sunbeam Tiger 260, 289 & Le Mans, Mustang 289, 350 and 500 and all models of the GT40 & Ford GT.

As the tour is on public roads there is nothing to stop you tagging along behind. ;) ;)
Even if the course is privately owned and spectator access is not open to non-members, most of it is visible from the public car park where we stopped. If I lived in central Scotland I would definitely be taking the opportunity to see some tasty metal.

* Doune also has a course which is used for the Scottish round of the British Championship.

Just a quick question, how are we going to be for V-Power up there?

I'd rather not start blowing knock sensors half way round, and my fuel gauge is about as truthful as a politicians manifesto

How have other tuned Turbos managed in the past, a boot full of octane booster?

 Forget it. It's unobtainable north and west of the A9.

Not sure whether Gleaner is 97RON or 98RON. Can't find any spec sheet on the interweb. The Lochbroom Filling Station is the other end of town from the Morefield Motel which is handy given we will be based there from Thursday evening to Monday morning.

Ullapool is one of the very few places that I know of in the north west of Scotland where you can get anything better than 95RON (the other is at Broadford - see link above). As there is no other filling station for miles around, the result is that it can get pretty busy. The site is very cramped too with only one pump for super unleaded. Choose your time wisely to fill up otherwise you'll be sitting there twiddling your thumbs for quite a while! After we depart from the Dumbarton Travelodge you won't see any V-Power pump until we reach Inverness (or Nairn) on the final day.

Image We will be doing over 1000 miles, much of it spirited progress, with no Shell station in sight. There is no way I would want to risk running a tubby (particularly a modded one running higher than stock boost) for that distance on anything other than 99RON. The only exception would be if you have a stand alone ECU which has been programmed with a specific map for 95RON (mine isn't) which you can switch to when required. Better to err on the high side rather than risk det and destroy your engine.

It's an awfully long way home sitting in the cab of a recovery truck!

The local super unleaded and octane booster did me fine last year, that was with the car running in the region of 325 brake. Never noticed and issues with it at all. I should have kept that car! Loved the noise from it!

I'm totally envious of Steve's photographic skills. The jammy git has free rein of the Bealach as his playground. With just the car for it too - http://www.stevecarter.com/r5005.wmv
We will be passing his house after lunch on the Friday. You can just see its roof from the coast road. Stunning location looking across the loch to Shieldaig village.

Exciting times, whoever would've guessed we would be seeing fuel prices drop, it's normally the opposite.

It'll be below £1 per litre by the end of January...

...I'm getting pretty excited now, although I've still got a lot to do to my car before April - I best get cracking really!!

Lui just sailed through MOT but the mechanic did mention I'm going to need new rear tyres for April. Now why does that not surprise me :D

I can't believe I've had this wee car 4 years next week. Just love it. Bring on the Highland Drive :yahoo:
