Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
There is another option... one that we feel won't be necessary (due to needing to charge folk the extra on top for recorded delivery of their ticket - which works out about the same as the service charge)... where we will take the money from folk for the tickets, and then fill the usual ticket form in from JAE for that batch of tickets - we would then get that batch of tickets sent to one of us from JAE, where we would then need to forward each ticket on to the respective members...
The e-ticket route means that - no tickets will be lost in the post, no tickets will arrive late, people can decide last minute whether they are coming or not by simply clicking a few buttons and printing off the e-ticket or having the ticket sent to their mobile rather than us stating a cut off date a month in advance of the show...
...oh, and there is less work for us to do
I think it's a 'win - win' idea from the organisers of JAE this year

It's still bloody good value. £37 for 4 days car show, fireworks, entertainment, camping & showers. Can't argue really ... Mostly
Dude I can understand that the oc want to make sure that the tickets arrive safely and I totally agree with that but if you want to look at it being good value then I will agree agian with you if you compare it to Santa pod. But we make our own entertainment as a club until we are told to turn the generators off at night by the official's, as for the fireworks it is a spectacular don't get me wrong but I could live without it as I have seen it so many times before if they were put that money into getting more trade there that aren't just really selling stickers I would be happier.
The service charge just seems like they are creaming it to me personally if they didn't sell the tickets they wouldn't have a car show! For the past 4 years it has been £25 and last year they let everyone in a day early rather than having a set up day but now you can have an the same amount of time as last year but for an extra £10. Here is a pic from some the pervious tickets and wrist bands that they did I hope the quality is like that again other wise what's the service charge and increased price for?
Just some concens

And recorded delivery is no guarantee of delivery.chris wrote:There is another option... one that we feel won't be necessary (due to needing to charge folk the extra on top for recorded delivery of their ticket - which works out about the same as the service charge)... where we will take the money from folk for the tickets, and then fill the usual ticket form in from JAE for that batch of tickets - we would then get that batch of tickets sent to one of us from JAE, where we would then need to forward each ticket on to the respective members...

Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
less work = less labour hours... hope that isn't the attitude to the show. I do want it to be good as both Laura and myself left early last year due to a leaking tent and JAE is the only show that we will be doing for the foreseeable future as after the last Santa Pod show we went to I will not be going back there again any time soon! As for value for money it was..... PONY!

Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
Why are people moaning about an increase in cost or a £2.60 or whatever the price is service charge for the MAIN show of the year when we own these cars, and the costs involved in maintaining them?
That's less than £10 a day for a great show!
If the increase was £50 for the show I would raise concerns, but seriously?
Costs increase, personally I couldn't give a flying over what you will probably be paying more for in the supermarket for the 4 days compared to last year for the food and drinks!

When you start accepting the increases where do you draw a line under it? Yes things go up, but wages haven't, people situations change granted but when things go up and you get less for your money (no proper ticket) then you should start asking questions or showing concerns in my opinion! I like having a decent ticket to show I have been there as well as the memories, I only go to JAE to socialise with friends that I don't normally see because if IKO wasn't happening then there really wouldn't be enough there to make long enough to be a 4 day show

Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
I wasn't having a dig at you personally Dave
I see costs go up all the time and being in the food industry the costs have soared in recent years, yet electronic stuff has come down (I'm in IT). Appreciate that yes it's only a car show, but I think you need to look at the bigger picture and stop/ worrying about a couple of quid here and there on a ticket for a show.
Yes I agree I could question the slight increase on last year, but what about car tax? And impending rise in October again when the rules change. What about the increase in fuel? That will impact the price of tickets that the companies charge for club plots for delivery of generators (and running costs) and marquees.
I can guarantee most of the cost increase will also probably be doubled by the amount people pee up the wall on the first night!

Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
The 'service charge' on the ticket is NOT by JAE Dave. The charge is from Ticket Script for the e-ticket. You can still get a thursday to sunday ticket for £35 BUT we need to order 10 in a go.
Like i say - if we are to do that, we are still going to send them out recorded delivery which would be £2 on top of the ticket price Dave. The club cannot swallow that mate. We've drastically reduced our outgoings for JAE by buying our own marquee but we still have large costs involved - plus we also want to improve lighting.
I took the decision that, this year with the price increase to £30 we would not add anything on to the ticket price to go toward the running of the show. Plus I agree that £37.50 odd is a lot for a car show but it's more than that as we all know. £9 per day, isn't really all that much - in my opinion.

Totally agree. No concerns about waiting on tenterhooks for the postie to deliver it. I never want to go through the hassle that ensued when the Japfest ticket failed to arrive in time a few years back.
@ Dave - ever tried getting tickets in advance to a play or a rock concert? A booking fee/service charge is the norm.

I've done IKO stag events at over £40 a day:d-peg wrote:£9 per day, isn't really all that much - in my opinion.

And you get 4 days camping free at JAE, so it's pretty good value for a weekend away. I've just spent £220 on a B&B for my parents for 2 nights on the old mans big birthday so a couple of quid doesn't really mean much, yet it does!
Not that I'm saying I can simply afford it (I don't want too ATM, car tax and insurance due hence I'm leaving it till next month) but I can still afford it next month though to make things easier. Shuffle payments around and all that
Still a cheap holiday for 4 days though. Try booking a static caravan in Devon for the same days or a break on a canal boat and post up the price

Same weekend for a 7 berth boat on the Grand Union Canal - £662.

The 'ticket sending' last year were a minor part of the organisation, the show will be just as good, and we'll be working just as hard behind the scenes... trust me

Re: JAE Ticket sales - discussion
£25 Adult per day Drayton Manor
£40 adult per day legoland
£49 on the day Alton Towers (£36 if 7 days advanced).
£22 Adult to tower of London
£25 average cost of Prem lowest ticket
£207 week camping in Dawlish
Just a few to put the 4 day pass cost into perspective - we will all spend more on booze, food and fuel over the same period.
For what you, organized IKO / free showers / camping for how every many nights you choose to book / fireworks and one last thing meeting up with friends new and old and having a weekend of banter, swapping of tails / information is priceless.
Just think it is one of the best weekends of the year and the most cost effective.
