The runways not usable pete

Theres also a proper go kart track just outside, I wonder if they will make us of it?

I live 10min away and can confirm its nowhere near as good as wicksteed  its very much like Peterborough in its layout.

There is a shell garage just outside which good for v power and the town has a good selection of supermarkets and so does Lincoln which is only 10min away. Its got good access of the A1 which is about 2 min away, its on the outside of town so noise wont a prob :th:

I will probably give this a miss!

That's even further than Wicksteed was for me!

I'm a southerner ;)

Should be at Japfest however :)

Pfft! It's only another 50 miles motorway/dual carriageway driving. Just 5 miles more for you than me, another southerner. So that excuse won't wash. Plus you don't have to sit a b****y queue for 20 minutes (or more) to get through the Dartford Tunnel.
Erwan Huerre, Connect Plus Services Transition Manager wrote: On the northbound side, the works will take longer to complete because we need to construct a new tunnel safety system. During this time, road users will still need to travel through the existing barriers, but they won't be able to stop and pay here anymore. The reason we need to keep the barriers at this stage is to stop over-sized or non-compliant vehicles from using the tunnel.
Ta Erwan: the works are going to take months (until April - assuming they don't overrun) and in the meantime the northbound queues are just as bad as ever.

The showground was formerly RAF Winthorpe. If you want a break from cars nip over to the adjacent aircraft museum. However a word of warning. All airfield sites have one thing in common: they are exposed. So if there is any wind or rain it will be pretty dire (as long term Japfest or Santa Pod attendees will be aware)!

Oh btw it's a quite a lot further to go to get supplies from a supermarket. Unlike Tesco at Kettering, it will mean joining the scrum in the centre of town.

The organisers must have their reasons for moving from Wicksteed but ime agricultural society showgrounds are bleak and soulless places. Seen from above they have a quite remarkable resemblance to WW2 prison camps. All that is missing are the wooden huts, watchtowers, and armed guards!
If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much room!

I have to agree there Tony, Wicksteed was great for camping and for show facilities for us. The Pod is awful, and the new location doesn't look much better than Peterborough regarding the site.

Not nice, Wicksteed Park was such a good place to camp.

This looks very bleak and desolate.
