Eurotunnel booking

Outward journey
26 of July 2015
Departure 6.20 (UK time) arrival in France 8-00

Return journey
2nd of August 2015
departure 20.20 (French time) arrival in UK 19.55

500 miles day 1 (UK to Black Forest Germany)
300 miles day 2
300 miles day 3
300 miles day 4 (Monte Carlo)
Still interested in this but would appreciate some more info.

1. Accommodation details?
2. Availability of 99RON? (need to know if I would have to stock up on Millers)
3. How much folding money (in Euros) should I budget for?

Haven't done anything more ambitious than a day trip for well over 10 years.
Didn't have a car that needed more exotic fuel than 95RON back then.

Alan (BlackIce) and Rob (Badgerbob) came with us in 2010 and didn't have any trouble. I believe they brought some octane booster with them but didn't need it all. Remember Alan was running 400+ at the time ;) ..

You can probably budget for 30mpg as it's not always spirited and more of a european cruise at times :)

Michael can help you out with the money and accomodation q's :)

Could always takes some methanol , V Power has 7% methanol in it.

It’s not a race, we will be cruising.

With the pound being strong against the Euro, I expect costs will be similar to when we last went.

I did something similar with the missus last year, 98+ ron shell is widely available, I even saw 100ron in Austria.

Fuel is very cheap in luxembourg and very expensive in Italy.

I was doing all the driving and if you want to take some scenic roads, 300 miles is a 7-8 hours driving and can be quite tiring. Using the autoroutes was faster and noisier but less scenic.

If you can take a co-driver I think you'd feel a lot less burned out and enjoy it more.

-edit- Looks bloody awesome. Doing it in a pack of mr2s would be cool.

We will have the first night accommodation shortly, making sure we have secure parking.

Also, this is a slightly longer trip than before so we get more leisure time

I agree from experience, 300 miles is about 6 to 7 hours driving (Through some beautiful mountings and very noisy tunnels)
Have done it lots of times over the years and there’s no point in rushing.
We are only going on the scenic route and avoiding motorways.
Will only be spending one night in Italy

Blackice was definitely running 400+, and proved in Italy. :)

We all averaged 30+mpg

I think Switzerland was the only country we had to pay a compulsory road tax

I am only going to allow for my car to do 25 miles to the gallon (5 L)
I will need to fill up about eight times for the 2200 miles
6 to 8 L of methanol
About £450 of fuel (maximum)
I will probably average 30 to the gallon
