I ask cause it seems like a lot are wanting to party and also enjoy the roads, cannot do both.
I've no doubt that we can cook up some mass meals, I make a mean chilli ;)
If it's a three night break then a run can be had before then enjoying drinks, food, facilities etc. As long as its planned out properly I can't see any problems with us doing both as long as a run is done before a heavy night.
I'm in Red's corner here.

If any heavy night is being contemplated this will impact on the entire weekend because it can't be the one before driving home. So this in turn will curtail any 'B road action'. For those who are happy with that, no problem, but it's a decision which everyone will have to make for themselves up front. Once the die is cast that's it.

I can only speak for myself but first and foremost the whole point about having an MR2 is for driving enjoyment, otherwise I might as well have chosen a Prius. If an alcohol fuelled long weekend with a bunch of mates is the primary motivation then I see no point in putting my driving licence at risk. I would take a train then hire a taxi to get me to where I was staying.

One other point. With a large group booking a property it's not like individual rooms in a hotel where someone in the party can change their mind a couple of weeks beforehand and cancel. A deposit will be need to be found and people will have to make a definite commitment to attend, most likely well ahead of the actual date.

Without the numbers any kind of plan is fraught with difficulty. The Highland Drive appears to be seamless. That's because it has been honed to perfection over many years: the dates are known long in advance, the accommodation is in a fixed location every year, and the number attending is pretty consistent each time. Even so, much work is still needed to make it all happen. Most of us just don't get to find out about it.

I agree Tony and Id not put my licence at risk but that's why I was looking at 3 night stays. That way we can set it up fairly like JAE and say its first night Friday night, we could have a run Saturday, then people can drink and be merry Saturday night.
Then there's still Sunday and Sunday night to recover for a drive back the day after.

People will have to stump up a deposit, and be committed once we have set a date and taken deposits.
It'll be a challenge to set up, but all things such as the highland drive started somewhere. If this works it'll be another annual thing that lots of people can take part in even if not comfortable doing runs as people would be welcome to stay at the property.

But yes I agree which is why I thought we would pop a list up and work out a rough idea of numbers.

Change the list if I've missed people..... Tapatalk is a pain to keep flicking backwards and forwards.

I do still think, let's say the nights are Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night with a leaving on Monday. Can have a run upto the place, organise a run that afternoon possibly? Enjoy a dinner and get together being sedate. Have a good run on the Saturday, come back and those that want to drink a lot can. This then leaves Sunday in which people can get up late and recover.

If people don't want to drink and would rather do a second run on the last full day ( let's say Sunday for this example) then they can but we will have to plan that so we are aware of who will be doing it. If you get drunk the night before then you aren't going on a morning run.....

I'd think I would prefer to drive on both days rather than have a blowout night. Happy to do that with a smaller group on the Sunday though :)
