Any idea which travel lodges we need to book for the start and finish. Hate to miss out on the cheap bookings...my pockets are deep and my arms are short :D

Ann and myself are meeting up in the next few days to discuss and set routes, and will of course post up details asap.

Hi guys, it is with a heavy heart  but, I am withdrawing from the h/d this year. I hope you all have a good but safe run.

I can empathise with that as same reason I couldn't make this years.
Start saving the pennies, or you could try selling a kidney :D to make 2020
Hope to see you soon

Yep: you overdid it in September 2016. ;)
It's a bummer when the interest free period on the cc runs out... :bleh:

Pah, I did that a long time ago! I'm down to one lung now as well...
How else do you think I, an OAP, have managed to do all of the last 7 HDs?

Anyone know the exact dates of the Highland drive?? Including hotels if I need them on the day before as driving from Isle of Sheppey and last time I did it I missed half the drive 😢, also the misses needs to see if she can get it off as she works in a school and they don't like you having holidays outside holidays thanks in advanced

<<cough>> You could try looking at the very first line of the first post on page 1... <<cough>> :bleh:

The start point will be either Dumbarton or Perth.
Don't know which as no route info has been posted yet.
When it is, book the Wednesday night at the relevant Travelodge.

Either can easily be reached in one day from Kent.
I always leave early doors before the Dartford Crossing gets rammed
Head up the M11/A14/A1 to Scotch Corner then the scenic route.*
Either to M74 J8 (for Dumbarton) or the Edinburgh Bypass (for Perth).
Stopping at a decent pub for lunch en route.

The trick is to reach Glasgow or Edinburgh before the homeward rush begins.

* There are some cracking roads either side of the border.
Much more fun than boring motorways and d/cs.

She may struggle with that. It looks like she'll be needing 5 days.

Depends on the school and whether there is any flexibility.
