Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
New tyres went on on Saturday. Old tyres were sat still for almost 12 months and had warped badly.
Loads of tread though....
Friday night MPG, 8.2... Whoops...

Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
I found my spreadsheet from when I owned my turbo in 2004, it makes for interesting reading:
Standard Rev2 T-bar Turbo apart from Powerflow cat back exhaust & 16" alloys
High: 39.72 litres (8.7 gallons) 286.2 miles = 32.9mpg
Low: 46.2 litres (10.2 gallons) 105.6 miles = 10.4mpg
(it was the first week I owned it though)
...and also attached to this sheet was the economy for the 3S-FE Rev1 (standard car)
High: 42.9 litres (9.4 gallons) 396.5 miles = 42.2mpg
Low: 37.7 litres (8.3 gallons) 238.2 miles = 28.7mpg

I was talking to Wedgey about this the other week and he showed me his 'road trip' app
His average is 17.7mpg ALL THE TIME

It was less than that on the 2009 Highland Drive. Filling stations are not plentiful up there.
On one of the days he was running on fumes and only just made it to the pumps.....

Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
Just to clarify, my first post was meant to be an entry. Exact scores (yet to be beaten) were 24.1 and 24.4mpg. Hungry beast.

Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
Just done my first tank in the new GE. ALL 221 miles were in stop start traffic in rush hour to and from work. Max speed was 40mph for a minute or two each journey - average speed for each 11.1 mile journey was 23.7mph
25/11/11: 221.1 miles, 41.01L to refill = 24.51 mpg.
Just thought I'd do that route for a week to see what the Urban was like
Dan - had 4.5mpg out of the V6 before, but don't enter that as it was a day on a sprint course so not real world driving and I can't back it up (but we did brim before/after and used the course length x laps + 4 miles for the trip to the petrol station).
Update 1:
30/11/11: 282.1 miles, 42.40L to refill = 30.25 mpg.
(mixture of stop/start traffic and A/B roads and weekend fun on A Roads)

Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
Nobody believes me on my fuel results for my mr2 but I’ve carried out my test many times and this is what it’s producing, I tend to use the Mot emission report a lot to try and beat the next years emissions, so far so good it tells me how efficiently my cars burning fuel.
Currently on 52mpg on general careful driving doing no more than 50mph and extremely easy on the accelerator up through the gears on rev 2 jap "Stock 3S-GE N/A" with new cat and stainless exhaust which is wider piped that then stock exhaust, also 17" rims with Michelin's
Everything thing is well maintained and I mean well maintained! "inlets, pipes, ign components etc checked and cleaned every 3 months . the cars weight is kept to absolute minimum as in I even ride around on ¼ full tanks to keep the weight down even more, as a norm I spend £20 per week on fuel and that will last all week and I cover 182 miles a week for work.
The Mr2 is the most fuel efficient car I’ve owned and considering how old it is it’s tops, I pretty much keep to cars made in the 90’s and this car is by far the best car I've owned, it's don'e nothing but amaze me the entire 6 years of ownership.

Re: The mk2 MPG Thread
I'd like to see the Mk3 results too. Any chance of updating the title and thread location and inviting some Mk3 owners to post there results?
