Wire Tucking Rev 3 3SGTE

Post by MR2Jay »

Afternoon Folks,

Seriously hating on this Photobucket problem as it means I can't find the answers I am looking for...

OK, I would like to relocate everything on the bulkhead between the boot and the engine into the boot to do a partial tuck on the engine bay. This means I would like to relocate

1. Fuse Box
2. Ignitor Coil & Bracket
3. Diagnotic Port and Boost Sensor
4. Expansion Tank

All into the boot.

Has anyone here done this? Can anyone furnish me with some pictures and any sort of guide on how the boot install works on the tuck?

Cheers

OK, been doing a bit of shopping and bought a load of stuff to make a start with the diagnostic port and manifold pressure sensor.

Bought some 16AWG and 14AWG wire, some loom tape, a 10 way and 4 way water resistant connection block, rubber grommets and some black 5mm silicone hosing. That should be enough to re-route the wiring into the boot and relocate the diagnostic and manifold pressure sensor away from the bulkhead. It'll also allow me to create a smaller hole for the sensor wiring and hoses as I'll be able to disconnect the sensors from the loom should the engine have to come out.

I think once I've done one, I'll be happy to carry it on.

The problem comes with the sheilded wires. From what I can tell, the best way to extend these is to peel back the sheilding and extend the wire as normal, using a heat shring over the internal wire. you then ease back the shielding and wrap right along the expension with adhesive sheilding tape before wrapping in loom tape.

I think I can see how this is done now. I'll do this first one and take it form there :th:

If you remove the seat belt trim on the passengers side and look up near the top you can see and black plastic grommet. If you remove this then there is a void that goes from there to the same side in the boot and with a stiff wire you can feed it through to the boot.

You can then extend the wires for the fuse box and rear lights and and place it in the boot out of the way. Not sure if that helps?
