Rev 5 egr valve
I've got a rev 5 N/A 1999 which sometimes stalls when slowing down for roundabouts junctions etc. Various places on the net suggest this could be the egr valve sticking. I've checked the throttle body air bypass holes, replaced and reset the throttle position sensor and the lambda sensor. The egr VSV is working ok and I can't detect any leaks on all the vacuum pipes around the egr valve, modulator and throttle body.
I want to remove the egr valve to give it a thorough clean and I've taken off the exhaust heatshield, VSV, modulator and egr input pipe. I can loosen the egr valve but can't remove it completely for cleaning.
Has anyone got info on how to get the egr valve off? I think a bracket holding water pipes also holds the egr
valve in place. I don't want to try getting the exhaust off at home (could be pushing my luck on a 20 yr old car) or doing too much dismantling of the cooling system.
If it's not possible without lots of dismantling it is sufficient to just squirt egr cleaner into the valve, don't think I can do much else?
The car is in original condition, no mods, tweaks etc.

Re: Rev 5 egr valve
Might be good if you post up some pics. I have a rev 5 but no EGR installed. Maybe the UK got something special.

Re: Rev 5 egr valve
All UK/Euro Rev4 / Rev5 NA cars have a Gen3 3SGE with EGR and a throttle dampening valve. Other differences include a 4-1 Manifold rather than the 4-2-1 found on other Gen3's.
Only Japan got the Gen4 3SGE BEAMS in the Rev5, and the Japan market Rev4 Gen3 3SGE is the same as the Rev3 version.

Couple of pics attached showing the problem as best I could. You can see the VSV bracket which is welded to the coolant pipes has to be moved or taken off. I think I may have to remove the coolant pipes from the other end if I want to do this
