Starter motor removal questions (MK2 NA SW20)

Post by adenbakker »

Before I do something drastically wrong attempting to remove the starter motor in my MK2 SW20...:
the BGB states to (b) "remove the nut, and disconnect the starter cable", then (c) "remove the nut and disconnect the starter wire" - In my case the starter cable and the starter wire are held in place by the same nut (and are on the same bolt). Is this correct? :confused1:

Following in the BGB: (d) "disconnect the starter connector" - how is this disconnected (is it a regular type clip?)

Finally: (e) "remove the two bolts, wire clamp and starter" - how is the wire clamp held in place? (more inaccessible bolts?)

Thanks for any useful tips&tricks! :th:

Cheers,
Andrew

Get your phone down there and take a snap of the electrical connections.

Basically you have ring terminals for the live and the solenoid and the earth.

Pay attention to which terminal each ring goes on with the earth on one of the securing bolts
