Dirt/mud in heating vents/"air con"

Hi guys,

Recently picked up my 1992 MR2 and have had no issues with it until now. When driving with the cold air on, or hot air, loads of dirt seems to come through the vents. It seems very compacted mud. Was wondering if anyone knew about what the issue could be or how to solve it? Thanks
