Speedo not working ECL 42
I just have my gearbox taken apart and fixed. Its now in working order again. But my speedo no longer works. Its a rev 2 so no cable.
I want to check the sender but I can't find a photo anywhere of where the damn thing is. I heard sometimes the drive wheel snaps off on them. I wouldn't be surprised if thats happened to mine since its old and probably original and has recently been disturbed.
I don't really care too much about the speedo. I use a GPS one instead since mine was never very accurate due to different wheel sizes (I was planning on installing a corrector at some point).
Anyone know where the sender is located? Thanks

Nice anti-rust coating you have there.
Thanks for the picture. I'm guessing I can get at that pretty easily from the engine bay then. I'll have a look tomorrow. I bet my mechanic just forgot to plug it back in. Otherwise if it's plugged in then i'll have to remove it and inspect it and possible replace it . Seems weird it was working fine prior to the gearbox rebuild.

That's more like it. I wish my engine bay looked like that. At some point I need to get in there with a scrubbing brush and give it a good cleaning.
Not mine this is mine

Hmm its not there on my gearbox.
I only managed to find 2 things which it might be.
on the back of the gearbox (facing the rear of the car).
on the top of the gearbox.

My apologies, thought it was on the top.
Looks like the first pic (speed sensor has an oval plug with 3 pins, wire colours are usually violet, brown and Black/Yellow) going by the wire colours the second one is the reverse light switch

Dammit. It's plugged in. Was hoping it was something simple like the connector had fallen off. That means the sensor is bad. I'll have to get a used one. Have no idea how to fit it either. Thanks for your help.

Re: Speedo not working ECL 42
Well "censored". It seems turbo speed sensors are really hard to get. I can't find them anywhere and they are different from the naturally aspirated ones. Connector is at 90 degrees as in my picture rather than straight out the back. Shaft length is different etc.
I guess i'm sticking with my GPS speedo built into my rear view dashcam mirror. Since I look in the mirror often its quite convenient.

Re: Speedo not working ECL 42
Does anyone know how the wiring and electronics for the speedo works? I found these GPS modules which can hook up to speedos to provide a speed signal.
https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway ... 57487.html
It has two modes. 8k or 16k ppm signal which id hook up to the connector where the original sender would be in the engine bay.
Since the turbo speed sensors are literally impossible to find now this is really the only way I can see to get my Speedo working. I can't keep having the check engine light coming on. And also my odometer doesn't work without speed.
There is also this product:
https://www.bridgwater-electronics.co.u ... wE#tdesc_1
but the quality doesn't seem as good.
