Gear Box oil question
Hi folks
Has anyone used Coma SX 75W 90 Gl5 oil in their gearbox’s? If so any comments.
Also where can I get new washers for the drain and fill plugs?
Cheers

Re: Gear Box oil question
Washers and plugs are all available from Toyota.
Any good quality GL4 will be fine. With GL5's you need to be careful as some GL5's are not compatible with the brass/yellow metal synchros like the MR2 transmissions have.

Re: Gear Box oil question
If your gearbox has all genuine Toyota gearbox parts then any manual gearbox oil is fine. Personally have used Castrol Syntrax for over 20 years in mine and wouldn't use anything else because there is no point. This stuff smooth shifts with half the effort of the stock oil that Toyota put in the gearbox at the factory and the gearbox will outlive the rest of the car.
The Aluminium crush washers can be reused a few times unless someone munted them by over torquing the bolt.

Comma do a GL4 fully synthetic 75w/90. It's called MVMTF plus. I have used this for years and had no problems.
