Rear brake hand brake issue
Hey guys looking for some help here, replaced both rear calipers with new overhauled units got them all fit and bled but I cant seem to get one side to apply the hand brake
I have checked all cables working correctly moving free so on and also followed the 180 piston turn to try but nothing, when you move the hand brake arm on the caliper its self it moves easy enough but doent move the piston at all. Is there a set up required one side worked out the box perfect the other not I just don't know if I have missed something.
Cheers

Try this method, both articles are written for the MK1, but the MK2 is exactly the same

Re: Rear brake hand brake issue
Cheers guys I tried to follow that method last night but only briefly, when I was winding the caliper back and out again it didn't seem to move in or out just rotated, I'll try the set up again today. As I said the other side is perfect! It does feel when I operate the hand brake crank that it isn't engaging with the mechanism inside so sound like it hasn't been rest right as the articles suggest. I'll post my results after I play about with it again.

Re: Rear brake hand brake issue
Sounds like the caliper has been rebuilt wrong.
There should be a decent amount of movement when you pull the lever by hand.
This is one i rebuilt a while ago, it shows how much movement there should be

They are reasonably easy to rebuild if you go down that route.

Re: Rear brake hand brake issue
That's what I am worried about if the caliper hasn't been rebuild correctly the arm moves no problem it's just not acting apon the piston at all the other side did when I tested them both on the bench I don't have the tool to remove the internal mechanism however.
