fitting a turbo to a 1993 or 1991 mk2
hey all, was wondering if at all possible and how simple it would be to fit a turbo to my 1991 mk2 or my 1993 mk2 2.0l has anyone tried this?

It is possible, but most opt to simply swap a turbo engine in as its quite a simple swap to do.

I suppose a turbo conversion is quite expensive now. gone are the days of £800 clips. andy

I'm gonna weigh in with a more comprehensive answer.
Think of the parts list;
Turbo
Oil feed lines to/from turbo and way of getting oil in out of these lines.
Exhaust manifold to accommodate said turbo.
Exhaust to get rid of extra gasses.
Fueling as the na injectors will fall well short.
Turbo gearbox and axles as the na box won't last long with boost.
ECU to control fueling etc with mapping.
That's all before you consider the piston crowns and compression ratio.
In my mind better to find a rear clip 3sgte kit and kaboodle.
Or sell one of the na cars and buy a genuine 3sgte car for probably less than you will spend doing the project and considerably less agro.
Don't get me wrong, sometimes it about the fun of the project but in this case the chips don't stack up
