CT20 Spooling Late
Hi all,
I'm still chasing issues with my MR2. I have adjusted my cam timing so now the engine is 100% in time and it has improved power a fair amount from before.
However, racing my friend's fairly stock rev2 he seems to be beating me as he comes into boost much, much sooner than i and a lot harder than me too.
I am running a manual boost controller, this one to be exact https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220537042109 ... 1&mkcid=28
I will attach below the boost line from my last dyno run (this run was before my timing was fixed but boost still seems to come on the same way even now) As you can see by the graph i am hitting peak boost at 5300rpm
What might be my cause for this? Boost leak seems the most likely reason to me?

I can't figure out how to put in an image here, so this is my cry for help.
Re: CT20 Spooling Late
Most likely a vacuum leak, I’d say wastegate is stuck open, ct20 should come on full boost around 3k

Those cheap "censored" Chinese 3inch downpipes need a lot of work with an angle grinder or the wastegate jams open. I was fortunate to test the wastegate by hand before putting it into the car and the problem was obvious. The flange is the wrong shape you need to smash it with an angle grinder.
