AC Condenser for a W30 ?? - UK

Post by demetriz »

Does anyone know from where I can source a new AC Condenser for a Mk3 (W30) in the UK ??

I can find one in stock ANYWHERE other than eBay.com (USA)

And pay around £400 ?? (probably)

They're usually around £70 in the UK (when in stock), or I can bring one from the US for around a ton... but I don't want to wait.

How do you know without asking ? Mr T's prices can be surprising ( both ways) and vary greatly from dealer to dealer (they are allowed to set their own prices) I'd certainly be checking before discounting him ;)

Vantage Toyota, Motorline Toyota & Ben at MR2-Ben all quoted me £250 inc VAT.

I think i'll go for a non-OEM part from eBay.com for around £100 inc shipping and taxes. I didn't really wanna wait so long to get my hands on it... but even at Mr T. it'll take a week to order it anyway.

Keep us posted. I remember last summer really getting annoyed not having AC in my roadster. A 50 min commute in the baking sun wasn't fun. Did look on Amazon recently for car AC fans but they all look rubbish and probably won't do a thing. Definitely maybe interested in fitting AC if it isn't too difficult for one to do.

I ended up paying £83.50 including shipping and taxes from the USA to UK for a brand new non-OEM part. Seven working days delivery. Thats a 67% discount on Mr. T's price... and it's delivered!

www.pitstopauto.com were extremely professional, and I am tracking the package all along the way.

My guy here in Cyprus is charging me €300. I got a compressor, compressor hoses, evaporator matrix, AC control unit (dashboard) and double fan for the condenser plus an old condenser on eBay for £90 all in. But I went to pick them up, so no shipping cost.

So all in, it’s gonna cost me about £450. My AC guy quoted me £800 for a completed new system, all in.

If I had the spare funds, I would have gone for a new system, but took the cheapo route.

Plus, I have a feeling that his quote was way below what it would have ended up at once he realised how much new MR2 AC parts would have cost to buy in.
