This looks like it should be bolted down?

Post by themissingelf »

Whilst rummaging around in the engine bay I came across this (see pic) tucked in beside the right-hand side of the cylinder head... No idea what it is but it was located near to a threaded hole in the block (second pic). Wondering whether it's supposed to be bolted to the block?

No shortage of engine bay photos on the internet but none showing this angle with enough clarity to determine whether this component is bolted to that hole.

Just bolt it to any 10mm bolt on the side of the block. Doesn’t matter which one it’s just a bracket

I figured the attachment point may be relevant to the electrical component the bracket encloses? Some sort of temp sensor maybe? I tried to find out what the component is but cannot see it on any service manual diagram.

If it has a part number on it, should be easy to find out what it is, looks like it could be an electrical noise filter.
