Driving fine and now a dead engine?

Post by Stagginz »

Hey.

Was driving along, as i changed into 3rd gear the car just went fully dead. No knocks or noises.

when turning the key over, still have all lights on dash , radio still works and starter still engages, but sounds like no compression.

The car will jolt forward if left in gear and key turns , but after taking the rocker cover off, when turning the key with it in the gear, the timing chain does not move at all, could it be a crank shaft issue?

Thank you!

Sounds like the woodruff key for the crankshaft gear is gone.

Could you post a video as that might help diagnose it.

Sounds like the electronic system is working so maybe do a compression test on it if your capable

I've heard this on a celica with the 1zz engine so could be a cheap fix , chain is doubtful .
