Correct bolt for rear suspension arm

Post by Woodzo »

Hi all,

My very clever mechanic dad is currently working on my 2003 Mk3 MR2 and sorting lots of jobs that would otherwise cost me £100s in the garage!

One of the big jobs he's doing is the driver side rear suspension as it's been knocking and creaking when I go over bumps. He's found that it's a worn bush on the "trailing arm".

He's just messaged me this- can anyone help?
Have taken the rear suspension trailing arm off from the hub to inspect
the bushing and there is nothing wrong with it.

There is a lot of play in between the bolt and the steel centre of the
bush. The bolt is 11mm in diameter but the diameter of the steel in the
bush is 12.25mm.

This is where the movement is, which in turn gives the noise you can
hear. Can you ask on the your MR2 forum if this is the correct bolt,
i.e. 11mm shank or should it be 12mm shank to the bolt.

The bolt is the bolt holding the rear trailing arm to the hub through a
bush.
