Any Evening Runs in the East Midlands planned soon?

Post by MR2Jay »

Hey Guys

Just a quick question really

Starting work in Northampton on Monday for an indefinite period (In fact, already started looking at houses up there). I'll be driving up on the Sunday, coming back on the Friday every week until we move.

Any evening runs in the area planned? Wouldn't mind to tag along and catch up with some of you guys :th:

Jay

Jay I know there have been a couple in Derby and Burton before, problem with the East Midlands is that there are practically no motorways so getting anywhere takes a while. Mark is on holiday so up to other people to organize them really.

There is a West Midlands meet on Wednesday coming about 1hr 30mins away from Northampton if you are up for that.

Ah, bad timing - On a major economy drive for the first 2 weeks (lack of cash and trying to find money for fuel, hotels and food).....

I'll keep my eyes peeled though - shouldn't be too long before we move up there though :th:

I found my MR" slightly wasted when i was working in east midlands area, (Spalding, Kings Lynn area). My experience was that everywhere was flat, and most roads were arrow straight with a 50mph limit and cameras!

I was only there a few weeks at a time so maybe others do know some better routes further afield.

Good luck with the move and the job, Hope it all goes smoothly!

Totally understandable, and better to have an MR2 with you than not. Just don't be expecting any breathtaking driving roads, lol.

Of course locals may always know of some! :th:

Cant think of any decent roads round Northampton, head 20 miles or so out and theres afew routes that are great on 2 wheels, havent tried driving them in properly in the 2 though.

Im in Corby (18miles) if you get stuck.

There's loads around me & Leicestershire seems to be one of the counties that only uses mobile cameras - and they tell you where they'll be in the paper so you rarely get caught!

M1 J23 is right next to me - don't know where this lack of motorway chat is coming from.

The Derby Stenson Bubble meet has died out as the Japmids forum has gone down & doesn't look like it'll be reappearing - this was the meet rover used to sort out.

Northampton is right on the southern tip of East Midlands (hell I didnt even realise it was IN the area) & i'd run £20 in fuel just getting there I'd imagine!

We had a brief chat at JAE about East Midlands, a few of my friends go to this meet every 2nd tuesday of the month (which I have just missed annoyingly, especially as it was less than 10 miles from work!):-

Ashby Folville gets all sorts - from classics to chavtastics, but there is always plenty to see - anyone up for it?
