Anyone know a cheap & good bodyshop down here?

Post by dellams »

Im based in Exeter but dont mind travelling a bit like to Plymouth, etc to get a good job done at a good price.

I need a new wing and respray for the wing to remove a big dent some ahole put in my car! Any idea how much they would charge for that?

Also, anyone know where I can source a new 2nd hand wing from?

Also, I'm thinking of getting a full respray done in future, any idea how much they would charge for that?

Cheers.

Dave, you have to bear in mind that unless you have skilled mates that are willing to do a little cash in hand weekend work, "cheap" and "good" rarely come in the same sentence

Yeah I agree, well more towards the cheap on the scale since I will be selling the car after.

Depending on how much it is and how much it will effect what I can get for it is whether I bother fixing it...

Anyone know roughly how much I would lose selling it with that big dent in it?

Just get your paint code, go on eBay and buy an old wing in the same colour.
Bolt the old one off and bolt the new one on

I've literally JUST ordered one through eBay. I'm sure there will be a slight colour disparity but its got to be better better than the massively dented, filled, re-dented, rusted and generally rubbish wing that is currently on mine.

Its costing me £32 for the wing (in pristine condition) and courier delivery.
Its bound to be your best bet.
20 mins work, no body shop and certianly not the 4-500 they would charge just to spray up one panel then blend into the nearby ones! :)

eBay is your friend! lol
Good luck

In all seriousness on the other forum this person has just started to break a car in your colour and all parts are still available:

Someone at work did my bumper in and I had it sorted through Thorn Coachworks (near Sidmouth). Can't fault the work they did and think it was about £150 for the bumper (can't really remember as the company paid for it). They also quoted around £180 to do the spoiler and both spats (got the dreaded pox)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Yeah I managed to finally source a new wing in the same colour, will be getting it fitted tomorrow at Garnish, they are charging £70, think it was for either 1 or 2 hours labor.

How easy is it to do it yourself anyway? I dont trust myself, I'll probably snap something off!

Cheers.
