Well yes - who knows what's it going to push in the end! I've never had that engine dyno'd, although it's never felt quite as fast as the old engine.

That said, with a massively free-flowing breathing setup, the ST205 ECU and a custom wastegate coupled with a Gizzmo so I can control the boost without fearing creep, I'd hope I could push a smidge over 300bhp. That said, a healthy 290+ run on Dyno Dynamics rollers would satisfy me, as not all tuned 3s-gte engines actually get to 300 for some reason. Besides, peak power has never been the end goal... fast spool and a strong midrange is more important to be really :th:

I know you don't target BHP & focus on as little lag as possible, but I'd have thought a target of 300bhp would be very realistic for yours :th: Can't imagine it being too different to Ant's old car in terms of power.

I'd hope so... I think alot will end up resting on how well the chargecooler is working TBH. But we've seen the ST205 ECU gives a few bhp at the top end, so I'm hopeful for a reasonable pub bragging figure too

Didn't think you were into pub bragging? :laughing

After my last 2 attempts I'd be over the moon with stock power!

Nah... but it's always nice to have a good figure when people ask :laughing

Regarding the ECU, Toxo did a back-to-back trial a couple of years ago on stock boost (0.96bar), and gained 9bhp at the wheels using the GT4 ECU:

MR2 Rev3 Turbo ECU, at flywheel:
275bhp at 5800rpm
280ft/lb at 4800rpm
231 at the wheels

ST205 ECU, at flywheel:
283.7bhp at 5800rpm
277ft/lb at 4800rpm
240 at the wheels

So, if everything worked perfectly, the most I'd be hoping for is 310bhp. I'm too pragmatic to think that's what would actually happen tho :blush

Ahh you've whipped out your ninja figures :laughing

That does explain why the GT4 has about 10hbp over the MR2, I'm assuming with the chargecooler in place, Toyota ran a more aggressive base map & in Toxos case with other breathing mods that adds nearly 10bhp to the wheels.

We'll have to see what happens on the day, looking forward to it :th:

I'm interested!

Came along for one a couple of years back, engine has been tuned a bit since then and I wouldn't mind finding out how the figures have changed. I'll keep checking the thread.
