Yeovilton Air Day - Sunday 26th July

Post by TonyleFrog »

An opportunity to bring your p&j and get a substantial discount (£8) on the admission price.

Advance tickets are £20 + £3 booking fee, but OC members who are prepared to get up early can exhibit their car and get in for £15 and no additional fee. Closing date is 1st July.

Booking form here - http://www.ahagb.co.uk/vehicle/Vehicle_ ... _Forms.pdf

The Vulcan B2 bomber is scheduled to attend. If you've never seen this awesome machine fly then get your name down. Its engines are the same ones that were later developed for Concorde so bring your ear plugs! - http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/Yeovilton-Airday

I already knew that XA903 was used to flight test the Olympus 593 engine to be used in Concorde. It wasn't the first to fly with 5 engines though. That was XA894 which was the test bed for the Olympus 320 used in the TSR-2. The latter was streets ahead of anything the Americans had on the drawing board. Its cancellation effectively killed off British aviation as an independent global player.

More about the development of the Olympus engine here.

Hi Tony, I'm seriously thinking about it, seriously.
Hopefully we will get a few more. I have mentioned it to Mrs spudgun and she may bring her 205 CTi as well. The only problem is we have a busy weekend before that as we are away over in Kent for War and Peace.
I'm still going to stick my name down.
