i dont look forward to the onslaught on my driving "abilities", ha. looking back, i probably should have considered an instructor for at least one session and a more advanced course at some stage.

ill post the vids up when i got a moment to cut the dead time out.

I actually found Snetterton 300 easier than Silverstone! Not sure why, I just found it easier to pick out a decent line there.

Definitely going to do Snetterton again, looks like they don't do any weekend open pit lane days until after the racing season, understandably. Went there in December, was good fun.

TBH I'd take a holiday day to do a midweek one!

D**n. Just my luck you captured me making a complete fist of Becketts!

At least I kept it on the island unlike a certain party on the grass at the entry to Luffield. ;)

Definitely need to get the mapping sorted out as I daren't push it as much as I would have liked. Still good fun though.

That's also where I err had my moment as well! lol (video to follow)
jimGTS wrote:Strangely my lines did change a bit out of becketts depending on if I had cars in front of me (for a potential overtake). So exited on the left hand side.

First lap, after safety went in, first session, I had a nice spin. Lol.
My lines always changed depending on traffic ahead, you also usually ended up compromising your line in places to get past I felt especially given I wanted to make the undertake in places but resisted as I didn't want to compromise anyone else.

May have that on GoPro ;)

odd that i appear to rev match less on track than i do the road, ha.
gareths sounded great and rev matched nicely.
This now explains why you were walking past me on the straights, I was hitting just over 115mph (indicated and my speedo under-reads) near the top of 4th at the end of both straights. So you had an extra 10mph at least on the straights, certainly couldn't get into fifth! You can definitely see what all your engine work has netted you :th:

Oddly I was the same, wasn't really doing any... Less time maybe?
That car just sounds epic :D

Haha wondered if you'd notice Tony [emoji6]
I'll get my instructor vid up soon although I did seem to have a musical gear selector for a bit. Gears kept swapping places [emoji20]

The stock speedo isn't perfectly linear w.r.t real speed. I've found that if you set it up perfectly for 60mph, it's under reading at 30mph, but if you set it up perfectly for 30mph then it's overreading at 60mph. Goodness knows what it's doing at double the NSL, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't overreading.

I think the max I saw on my digital, GPS calibrated speedo was about 120mph; I wasn't looking at my standard speedo to have any idea what it was reading.

im sure revs and gear probably give a better indication with known tyre sizes.
on a clear lap i was seeing average 5.5k-5.8k rpm in 5th before letting off.

i cant be 100% on true speed obviously.

mr2 gear/ratio calculator puts it around a real 130+mph at those revs with 245/40/17s..

more interesting i noticed my intake temps never went above 30c (auber intake temp gauge inside manifold). water/meth doing ok. though we did have outside temps in the 5c area.

How are you looking at so much data??? I was mostly just looking out for a nice patch of gravel to park on!

i did video it. ha
can make out revs much more clearly over speedo.
and vid clearly shows my intake readings, so....

easy when its recorded :cool1:

i wasnt paying much attention to anything but my oil temp and afrs to be fair and every now then ait's when on the track itself.
