Awards for the cars that turn up would be cool though. As IMOC do, just makes things a bit more interesting.

Re: An Idea for JAE show cars

My idea was to encourge different cars/ users to be able to have a bigger presence in real life than just on the forum

I am sure there would be somethings to work out if something like this was to go ahead, I am guilty as charged from entering my car very year for the JAE show cars but there are many users on here that feel they dont have the cleanest of car so wouldnt enter them into the competition!

But if you where to win the monthly show and shine and knew that you car would be a show car you might be more likely to come and this would also show as a club how long you've been planning it. There would be no need for shashs tho I do like the idea of that as it would be quite funny :D

How about this then, different caterogies

- Out & Out show cars
- Standard cars
- Daily drivers and
- MR2oc's Top friend (this one is my fav caterogy)

A break down of what could determine each Caterogy

Out & Out show cars
- This would be cars that spend more time in the garage than on move, please dont be offended by this but there are cars such as Gaz!'s, MR2big's, Doeboy's and Topguns TURD which are cars that are just a different class ie show car

Standard Cars
- Totally stock in apperance

Daily drivers
- These would be cars that are used day in day out no matter what the weather is as it people only mod of transport (unlike myself who has another another car for day to day driving)

MR2oc's Top friend (maybe work on the title of this :D)
- This would be a user that

* Is on the forums that throught out the year not just around the show season!
* Helping people out, either over the internet or one of those users that is more than happy to actually physical help others in some way
* Helping to make new members to the club feel welcomed
* Generally making a good impression while remaining a very active member on the forum and turning upto meets thought not arranging them as this is generally the region reps roles in my opinon, sorry all regional reps thought thats just my thoughts but this would have to be approved by the JAE show and shine comittee
* Someone that other users know off and can recommend to speak too

If there was 2 winners for each caterogy there would be 8 JAE show cars but I think a broader range of cars and user that put alot of effoprt into the club but would put there car in for the JAE show cars, I am sure there would be a healthy bio product for the club just because of the last caterogy

just another idea :th:

VC I think your right hence me trying to submit another way of getting JAE show cars to stop that kind of branding

Adam totally agree

I personally think that would be a great way to go as well

An Idea for JAE show cars

So that's settled then. JAE moves north for 2012 :th: :D

I don't buy that logic at all. I have never been to JAE but for entirely different reasons from that mentioned. The event is about far more than how much time you spend polishing your car or your annual consumption of Meguiars or Auto Glym etc.

What sort of award? It would need to be something that doesn't devalue the show car aspect.

I have to agree with Paul. Nice idea but unworkable.

Keep it as it is and let the owners vote with there feet. Nothing wrong with some smart cars at the entrance of the stand.

Individual awards are good tho, we did this in 06 and worked well.

Category 5

The people that modified it themselves

Category 6

The people that purchased the car already done , should they get an award for someone elses work??

Category 7

........... and so on

i think the problem is there is no definitive other than doing it the way it`s done now..

with the exception of the black mk2`s being at the front next year !

I very much agree and have heard it from a few members who believe the same thing.

Completely and totally not so Tony. The event is not about polishing your car at all. You park your car and leave it and never touch it again until you pack to go home. JAE is nothing to do with cars at all. You could not be any further from the MR2OC ethos of JAE if you tried...!

There were a couple of people in the JAE chat threads prior to the event convincing themselves not to go because they felt their cars were not 'good enough' to park on the stand.
A number of us were at pains to stress to these members that JAE is not about the cars, it's about the people. You park your car then spend the whole weekend socialising and hopefully those that came for the first time realise that.

You should come to JAE before assuming and posting so wildly off the mark your perception of what you think happens at JAE.
They'll take the internet off us if people keep doing this.

Have to agree with VC on some points ;)

I made it to JAE last year minus a car and still had a great weekend. Eventually managed to catch up with quite a few members I needed to put a face to a name, and even got a surprise bag of Haribo from Spanky who turned up from the emerald isle!!! Yummy! (the sweets not you Mark) haha

The banter is great more than anything at JAE, I never stop smiling and laughing unless I'm face down in my tent dressed as bananaman...

The cars are obviously a common ground to make new friends, but I do like the Santa Pod shows for the motor action, RWYB, Jetcar (love it still!) and the strip joint. Oops did i type that out loud  (You know who you are that will bring a tear to your eye).

I do disagree that people park up and leave their cars. Rev1turbomonster never turned up to ANY show without a small army of workers re-wiring his car!!! :laughing

Think I'm straying off topic now so.....

TLF sorry no, you couldnt be further from the truth. Even I left the car on the back burner to take part in events, socialise and have a laff.

I do feel the OC needs to put some of the more cared for cars out there. JAE is about the people and the times you have together. It is an event id recoment above any other.

+1 absolutely bang on! I had a bloody great time catching up with people I don't see a lot and laughing like I haven't done for a long time.

Its bloody brilliant if you like talking to people. If your a norman then its probably not the show for you.
