Not sure I agree with that, the Chesham meet is the bestest  :D :laughing
only for bumpy roads :cheeky:

about time you joined the highways department and sorted it out, damm un friendly i call it :D
I think you will find Chesham has had one of the biggest pothole refurbishing budgets and almost all roads are nearly smooth as silk again, well almost. My coilovers are very thankful!

Although I hear that we are meant to have a south pole esque winter. So I reckon they will be back after that!

Completely and totally not so Tony. The event is not about polishing your car at all. You park your car and leave it and never touch it again until you pack to go home. JAE is nothing to do with cars at all. You could not be any further from the MR2OC ethos of JAE if you tried...!

There were a couple of people in the JAE chat threads prior to the event convincing themselves not to go because they felt their cars were not 'good enough' to park on the stand.
A number of us were at pains to stress to these members that JAE is not about the cars, it's about the people. You park your car then spend the whole weekend socialising and hopefully those that came for the first time realise that.

You should come to JAE before assuming and posting so wildly off the mark your perception of what you think happens at JAE.
Gaz! wrote:TLF sorry no, you couldnt be further from the truth. Even I left the car on the back burner to take part in events, socialise and have a laff.

I do feel the OC needs to put some of the more cared for cars out there. JAE is about the people and the times you have together. It is an event id recoment above any other.
I may be only a Frog but it would appear that you have both failed your English GCSE. ;)
I have assumed nothing. Read what I actually wrote, not what you seem to think I said.

For those who still don't get it, check the key wording in my earlier post (now in bold).

I don't subscribe to the theory that show cars are 'elitist', nor that their inclusion creates an inferiority complex amongst the membership as a whole. That is not to say that some may perceive it that way, but I don't have to have been to JAE to know that they would be completely wrong. Otoh I don't believe that show cars should be banned either. I'm against bans on principle because history shows us that they are, in the main, totally counter-productive. You only have to look at the Ryan Giggs debacle for proof of that.

My reasons for not having been to JAE have nothing whatever to do with the perception that my car is not 'good enough'. The reason I am a member of this club is that its social aspect is way ahead of the competition. If you imagine for one moment that I believe JAE to be all about obsessive polishing and spending the entire day discussing technical minutiae you couldn't be further from the truth.

My boys school doesnt do sports days, they say its mean to the children who dont win, how very PC.... at a piont in life they will have to taste this sour pill. Oh wait why not carry this thro life, why?

You know when you dont win at something? Im talking sport mainly, I look at my performace and pick fault, look to see where improvement is needed.

At every show I look at every car and think where can I improve. Why shouldnt a club put forward what its members feel are worthy to represent thier club? This is where I get wrapped, but im not just saying this because mine was there but isnt it something for others to aim for?

Competion is healthy despite what the PC brigade think.

Gaz! Your car is mint fella and turly one of the cleanest cars in the club which has been proven on a number of occassions :th: . But in my opinon dude its because every member that turns up, takes part in the club either on here on the forums, at meets and events is worthy to represent the club

Gaz! wrote:This is where I get wrapped, but im not just saying this because mine was there but isnt it something for others to aim for?
No your cars has been an inspiration for people to aim for :th: but unfortantly this isnt always possible for everyone dude to reach that goal I believe, but can make some people feel that there car isnt worthy when compaired to some off the turly stunning cars that are here on the owners club.
We all joined this forum because we own the same type of car no matter if its a £500 or £5000 car but I think some people dont realize that this forum is mainly about the people and their personalities too when it come to real life meetings, this was proven to me when someone asked to put usernames to the faces as they more than likely know the username and the car that they own

Thats why we as a club done so well at JAE with your grand efforts teaching the TOW teams and not just this year but all the members which took part in all the other events too which showed the club spirit :D :th: :th: :th:

please dont be offended dude I am not attacking you but I hope you can see what I am gettting at!

A few thoughts of mine..

with regard to show and shine, when i feel my car is good enough to win in broad daylight rather than a camera shot, then i will definitely enter it.

Hopefully that will be before the next JAE and at that point (s & s winner or not) if it is chosen to represent the club i would be more than proud.
If not i`m more than happy to line it up with the rest (and some of the best)
I do feel its important not to have the same cars all the time, i`m sure a lot of people at JAE are like us and come year in, year out (well 2 for me  ) and as a club we need to offer something different every year.

Why not change the show cars on each day ??
