Extremely awkward to do.

You really need to get it properly diagnosed. One of these will assist - plus plenty of lighting to see clearly:

Just signed up to say a massive thanks to the guys who put up pictures and step by step guide. Was quoted 588 quid just for the replacement pipes from Toyota, so visited the local motor factors and including 5 litres of Toyota for life coolant I have change from 60 quid. Was difficult with the air con pipes but needed to be done!
Cheers again, this guide was invaluable! :notworthy:

Rev3 have a similar pipe, but I think it's a bit easier to reach as the oil filter is in another location.
Mr2 G limited (gt-s engine) broken but fun
Mr2 uk 156 bhp - in bits
Mr2 gt 170bhp - with the parents

I think 2 different issues are being confused on here

The pipes from hell are the 2 water pipes running from the radiator to the engine
from rev 3 the brackets were designed better ,so less chance of failure as on previous cars

Then there is the hose from hell
which is found on the turbo, and is found down behind the oil cooler ,so im guessing that on the rev 3 it should be easier to change ,due to the oil filter being in a different place

Just to confuse you more
there is also the hose from hell on earth
which is a second pipe that joins with the pipe that goes to the hose from hell

All will depend on which core plug has gone ,some are easier to get to than others ,there's one behind the water pump for example ,which means it all coming off

they are pennies to buy though ,just time needed to replace them

Page 6 on this thread, shows the core plug that had gone on my car

Hi all!

my Mk2 Rev1 has now got this problem so I'm currently sourcing the hoses to use. Was hoping if somebody could check the following hose and see if these would be ok??

Also, anybody know what connector/adapters I need to connect the hoses??

ok, I've discovered this week that I need to do this because one is leaking exactly where the bracket is, so bought hoses, joiners etc. got halfway through the job, and discovered that the route for the hoses as shown in the pics on page 2 (which are excellent by the way), is not possible because of the air con pipes. Anyone done this who has the air con, and could put a couple pics up of their routing please, as struggling to work out where to put them without them fouling the gear linkages or handbrake cables, and still be able to put the undertrays back on.
Thanks muchly people.

I dropped the tank and replaced the metal pipes with reinforced heater hose, p clipped in place, tidier and not all that difficult, plus I have charge cooler hoses running under the tank.

I am new to this forum. I have MR2, MK4 1994.. from Leicester.
I have a problem with the heater pipes from hell, and think of replacing them with hoses from https://mr2-ben.co.uk/products/352, has anyone bought these hoses from mr2-ben.
Could anyone tell me which heater pipes is the inlet and outlet from engine compartment, and which is inlet and outlet in the front bonnet. I am thinking of placing the hoses parallel to coolant pipes.
All suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks

4m of this 19mm and few clips much cheaper than kit.
and they run alongside the radiator pipes above the undertrays. use the mounting brackets to secure to.
very simple job if got lift, pretty easy if on axle stands.

Hi

I am going to get my pipes from hell replaced / bypassed since my rad needs changing as well.

Is something like this in 19mm (i think) good enough? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rubber-Radia ... HxzN5khKnQ

I see MR2 Ben has reinforced stuff available, is it worth the extra or does it make no difference?

Thx
