Track day or RWYB
Following on from the success of Jays Silverstone taster session a couple of us have had a chat and we may be up for a full open pit lane day and/or a RWYB at the pod
A couple of people I spoke to at the Silverstone meet seemed a bit concerned about the extra costs and extra strain on their cars if they did an all dayer..
At Silverstone we did a 30min constant session at what we thought was our quickest This is more than double the amount of time that an mr2 championship race lasts... In an open pit lane day you can come and go on and off track as you please. When I've been on them in the past I have done maybe 3-5 laps at a time then came into the pits to let the car + brakes cool down.. Doing this is not actually that different to a spirited drive out IMO
The cost will obviously be more. I've been checking prices and for example we could go to Bedford Autodrome for £139 (7 hours of track time = about £20 per hour)
20min Instructor session £20
Most people used around 1/4 tank of fuel at Silverstone on a 30 min top end blast so I'd guess that a full tank would be used depending on driving style
Doing a full day also allows people to get a passenger ride with others to maybe see how different people take their lines. You cna try different suspension settings out (if you have adjustment available)
Doing this may also give people more confidence to do the track time at Japshow
RWYB day is what it is.. I've never done it before but I would like to give it a go at some point
Cost is £35 for the day
Would anyone be up for either or both?

Re: Track day or RWYB
Yes, I'd be up for a track day
I've heard that Bedford's surface is very abrasive and will wear your tyres faster than at other tracks. I might need some newer R888s on the rear to survive whole day cos they're only just legal at the moment. (I had been planning on destroying them at Silverstone, but the car said no)

Re: Track day or RWYB
I want to organise a brands hatch event, possibly an evening session or 2.
I'm interested in track time but I'm unable to do anything until late September

Re: Track day or RWYB
I'll do either or both with the turbo when it's done. Santa Pod is a lot of fun for £25 plus entry, and Iv'e done a bit of sprint circuit racing but never a proper race circuit.
Oh and I have some Avon race slicks on my Blitz wheels I need to use up.......

Re: Track day or RWYB
if we have a track day that's not just for MR2s, Jody and I could be interested!
MR2 isn't allowed on the track "just in case" so we built a GBS kit car to abuse.
