Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
Hi all,
My best MPG obtained in my 1991 G-Limited N/A with a Mongoose and a de-cat was:
1st Sept
Odometer 126728
Distance 450
Refill 48.16 Shell V-Power
MPG 42.47
I use an App called fuel buddy and my average over 18599miles is 33.04MPG
Worst ever was 15.7mpg

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
I don't know if this is a competition type thread but I've decided to park my MR2 after 3 months. I've counted MPG since I got in order to diagnose any problems and my results are below. I do drive with a heavy-ish foot, 100 miles a week are motorway, 100 miles are a-roads and 100-miles are tooting round town (yeah, I do a lot of miles... hence why I've parked it). 1995 UK Spec N/A 3SGE.
113 miles 17.88 litres 3.9 gallons 28.9 mpg
50 miles 8 litres 1.76 gallons 28.4 mpg
108 miles 14.9 litres 3.22 gallons 33.5 mpg
95 miles 17 litres 3.74 gallons 25 mpg
244 miles 37.77 litres 8.1 gallons 30.1 mpg
268 miles 39.4 litres 8.7 gallons 30.8 mpg
202 miles 33 litres 7.26 gallons 27.5 mpg
144 miles 32.5 litees 7.15 gallons 20.1 mpg ***CROFT***
150 miles 18.3 litres 4 gallons 37 mpg ***ERROR METHINKS***
209 miles 39 litres 8.5 gallons 24mpg ***ERROR METHINKS***
140 miles 21.3 litres 4.6 gallons 30mpg
205 miles 31.7 litres 7 gallons 29.3 mpg
155 miles 21.1 litres 4.6 gallons 33.7mpg
209 miles 36 litres 7.9 gallons 24.5 mpg
116 miles 16.94 litres 3.72 gallons 31 mpg
190 miles 31.8 litres 6.9 gallons 27 mpg
170 miles 25 litres 5.5 gallons 31 mpg
244 miles 40.9 litres 9 gallons 27.1 mpg
224 miles 38 litres 8.4 gallons 26.5 mpg
175 miles 28 litres 6.16 gallons 28.6 mpg
158 miles 24.3 litres 5.3 gallons 29.8 mpg
126 miles 19.5 litres 4.29 gallons 29.4 mpg
177 miles 28.2 litres 6.204 gallons 28.5 mpg
136 miles 21.5 litre 4.73 gallons 28.8 mpg
230 miles 37 litres 8.14 gallons 28.3 mpg
250 miles 39.6 litrs 8.712 gallons 28.8
Apart from the three weird results I work out 29 MPG dead on. Seems fairly low, wonder if thats the car or my driving?

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
That looks pretty good - you're getting over 30mpg reasonably often, can be affected by brake binding, tyre pressures, etc.

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
I'm shocked by this massively, but I did a fair few miles last week and ended up with 527Km's out of the tank = 327 miles, 45 litres to fill back up again.

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
I put three gallon of V-power in my non turbo a week and average 120 miles with a mixture of motorway and city driving. On that basis it would appear to be doing close to if not exactly 40mpg.
Happy with that

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
You need to work it out properly by filling up to full then working out exact litres and mileage done.Snoosnoo wrote:I put three gallon of V-power in my non turbo a week and average 120 miles with a mixture of motorway and city driving. Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
Probably do but it's rare I actually need to put more than half a tank it. Doesn't do enough miles to work that out.
Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
Surely if you put a full tank in it then you'll just have to fill it half as often? HahaSnoosnoo wrote:Probably do but it's rare I actually need to put more than half a tank it. Doesn't do enough miles to work that out.
Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
Another fill up tonight.
Rev3 turbo modded, 245 miles, 37.44l to brim = 29.75mpg
All consisting of 13.7 mile journeys averaging 30 minutes, whilst boosting when the road allows. Oh and Santa Pod launch practices on deserted country roads
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/52.67 ... !3e0?hl=en
As you can see, mixture of roads (but avoids schools and many, many traffic lights! The direct route (through Pelsall) can take an extra 15 minutes! If there are no road works

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
Just finished my first fuel consumption test after fitting my 1MZ-FE V6 and it returned me 30mpg , which I am more than happy with. Small amount of town driving, some urban to work and a long run down to Norfolk this weekend.

Re: The MK2 MPG / Fuel Consumption Thread
No mpg readings but I was so surprised I will put on here...
150 miles Swindon to Cardiff and back on £20 vpower. Rev 2 turbo. That will do me. Normally get about 70miles for £20 around town.
