Side strip colours
My car is metallic blue (Cobalt blue) but the side strip is a darker, almost black, metallic blue. Does anyone know how to find the paint code for the side strip. I've got two replacements for the strip on the front wings which I need to spray the right colour.

Re: Side strip colours
The EPC has the side strips with colour codes but they vary by year.
You really need to put your VIN into the EPC to get the correct options, this will also tell you the correct colour code for your car because Cobalt Blue isn't a MR2 colour.

Re: Side strip colours
The paint code for my car is 8H3 Blue. The aerosol I bought has Code 8H3, Cobalt blue on the label, maybe same code, different name for other Toyota models. The paint is a perfect match for the car, except the strips. I have now decided that since I have got all but the ones on the doors removed I will re-spray them to match the rest of the car.

Re: Side strip colours
I have just found this on eBay, 1990 MR2 in blue, but in the photos it is clear that the strips are darker than the rest of the body. The item number if any one wants to check is 254588540155

Re: Side strip colours
As jimi said Cobalt Blue is not a MR2 colour.
8H3 is a Rev 1 code (from 1989 to 1990): Nautical Blue Metallic https://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forum/198/138417.html
The aerosol can appears to be mis-labelled.
Toyota Cobalt Blue Metallic code is 8B9

The e-bay ad is for a Rev 1 JDM G-Limited.

Re: Side strip colours
If you look very closely at the nautical blue car on the first link TonyleFrog mentions you can just discern that the side strips are darker. Has any one got a nautical blue Rev1 and are the side strips a different colour?

Re: Side strip colours.
OK guys, for the purists out there, there are currently three blue Mk2s in blue for sale on eBay and you can clearly see that the side strips are a darker colour.
I sent the damaged side strip from my car to Paint4U for colour matching and they said to order 749/a pg 414a This to me seems like 749 with a touch of 414a! I will be ordering an aerosol tin so I'll let you know.

749 is a Toyota colour: Medium Turquoise Metallic https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/c ... toyota_H-Z
No idea what 749A is.
414/A is Lancia Blu Scuro Mica Metallic.
