Emissions jap import n/a

Post by Morphman »

Hi guys,

I'm trying to sort out my emissions on my 2.
It failed on high co, please see attached.
I have a new BM catalysts CAT fitted and practically new downpipe.
Is the o2 sensor gone or is the CAT just not up to it?

How did they measure engine oil temperature?

My first fix would be making sure the car is properly hot. Letting it idle for some time is not enough.

I don't know how they measure the engine temperature but it was a good 20 minute drive to the centre for the test.

Must be a tough test in the UK, I pulled the CAT out of mine in 2008 and it got a "Green" cert at an emissions testing station with no CAT fitted at all. I think due to age of the vehicle its not to tough over here.

The engine does run sweet however, iridium plugs, quality 98 fuel, synthetic oil and the O2 sensor would have been new at the time.

Still no emissions testing in NZ as part of our WOF, pretty sure its just a visible smoke test, no smoke and its a PASS.

We are starting to worry about all our cows and sheep farting however, this cannot be good for global warming. Good old New Zealand.
