Is the complication a secret?

Not really a secret mate :th:

All it is that GWR are incredibly difficult to locate, let alone contact. They have about 4 offices, telephone numbers nobody answers, emails nobody replies too......

We ARE trying our best but they are difficult to pin down

no secret - just not into plastering personal details on a public forum, and this topic is one that can quickly go south. :th:

I reckon the lack of paying £2K for a GWR official to be there is the key to us not been recognised at the 2 previous attempts.
If a 3rd attempt is made, (and I now feel that may be more difficult than imagined to enthuse MR2 owners to attend in the numbers required), a pre-paid booking fee of £10 per car to cover the GWR official should be made and provided enough are attracted to attend and definitely break the record, it could then go ahead.
£10 per car is not that much and only those who are really serious to attend will sign up.
Last time I seem to remember that many who signed up never even showed up?

Just my thoughts.

You have a good point there - and one that will certainly be taken on board......

I do believe that if a third attempt is made, then the failings of before need to be admitted and addressed - namely coughing up the ridiculous amount that GWR expect to have someone in attendance.

I think that with a clear chance that it would be recognised this time (We KNOW we beat it before) then we could pull this off once and for all :th:

I would be up for it every year, they were good days out ,and better than meeting in a pub car park
could always try for sponsorship from the traders,to raise the £2000, i dont mind having a sticker on the car

I'm sure they would like some positive publicity for a change. :th:

So it is possible to get into the Guiness Book of Records !
Susan Boyle is reported today of having qualified for 3 entries.

We, it seems, can't genuinely get just 1.
