Cam seal removal
Hi all new to mr2
I’m part way through sorting an oil leak I’ve dropped the engine. Set timing and removed belts cam pullys ect. Do I have to remove valve cover and cam end bearing caps to remove cam seals or can I pull them out without removing valve cover and end caps
Many thanks Dan

Re: Cam seal removal
I think you have to remove the cover, the BGB has info on refitting the camshaft seals, page EG1–108 of the 1993 SW20 Repair Manual (download it here https://mr2oc.co.uk/downloads/technical-stuff/mk2.html) it's referring to the 3S-GTE but I'd suspect the 3S-GE is the same

Can simply drill a hole in outer lip, install a self tapping screw and pull out with seal with pliers. Obvious need to be careful not to damage seal seat when doing. Can use old seal to cover replacement when tapping into place with hammer.

Hi sorry for delay in reply. I managed to do what benckj said and drill and pull them. Another question should the 2 arrows align with each other on oil pump

Re: Cam seal removal
TBH I don’t think it matters as they rotate anyway. I searched on this subject when I replaced my oil pump seals and never found out what arrows were for. Installed it as found and never had an issue.
