Dash cluster

Hi guys,
I am a new mr2 mk2 rev3 owner. It's a jap import auto. I have a few questions if that's ok.
Are all imports clusters in kph rather than mph? Mine has a mph and I am assuming someone changed it at some point, can I change it back? How can I verify that they only changed the dial face and not the whole cluster?
Next question did all models come with power steering? I don't think mine has it but would like to confirm this?
I'm sure I will have more questions later on.
Great site and thanks for the help.

Its a hydraulic pump, check the engine bay you should be able to see it under the exhaust manifold heat shield.

You sure its a rev 3? Color looks a bit off for the dark green of the rev 3's, looks like the early dark green or blue but may just be me.

Only the rev 1's came without PS unless someone took the time to remove it? There have been issues with converting to mph and the speed sensor messing up the PS, usually that means it's either always on and very light or always off and extremely heavy, so may have been removed for that reason?

Also to answer the original q, yes you can change them back but will need an original set of import guages to swap back over, being an automatic not that easy to find, or just the speedometer which i'm pretty sure can be removed separately. Also you would need to find and remove the speedo converter.

Hi Chris,
Going by the Vin it's a rev 3 I think, sw20 9xxx5
Is it possible it was changed? How could I tell?

Just so happens the manual rack needs replacing I think. Bit of a knock on the left side, on closer inspection there is play in the shaft from the hub to the centre of the rack.

:confused1:
I've never heard of a MK2 with a mechanically driven PS pump, I thought they were all EHPS (Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) ?
